I believe that you probably only smashed the stems on the Mums and Poms, but could be mistaken. Cutting the end off definitely helps, as does the warm water.
-------------------------------------We went out and bought a real tree for the first time in a few years today, after going with a plastic one inherited when my mom passed. Didn't like it but felt bad not using it, sentimental I guess...couldn't bring myself to give it away. Liked the convenience but hated storing it.
Anyways, loving the smell of a fresh cut tree this year. Especially since we will be spending more time around it this Christmas. Looking forward to 2020 being hindsight.
Poll... curious how many go real or go fake?
Last year when the hydro workers cleared the power lines they'd prop the tree tops in the snow banks for folks to take.
Nice jester on their part.
Now for you fake* tree folks, we need a spray can filled with 'essence of pine' scent!
*(Sorry, should have used 'artificial', sounds nicer)
Have not had a tree - real or fake for a decade. But for longer than that I've been cutting a branch off a "Christmas Tree" I bought as a B&B about 1988 and planted. It needs the trimming and I bring in the "smell of a fresh cut tree", for free.<snip>
