Anyone watch his videos? I think he was a member on here a long time ago but hasn't posted in about 5 years. I have enjoyed watching some of his videos over the years. Anyway I was on Youtube the other day and it looks like he has gone off the deep end. He has been posting some very radical religious type stuff and then read the manifesto of the New Zeland shooter and practically applauded his actions. He said he is an "Ethnocentric Nationalist" I am not even sure what that means but seems a lot like a white supremacist to me.

I almost felt like I knew the guy watching his welding videos over the past ten years and this came as a huge surprise to me. I am still trying to fully understand his position but am leaning towards unsubscribing.

Yep I unsubscribed....bummer. He whined a bit with some of his tractor and farming stuff but overall he does a good job.
But his views were enough of a turn off that moved on. Jody from weldingtipsandtricks is solid.

I agree, I always enjoyed his many adventures and projects and thought he was just a regular guy out playing in the garage making stuff and playing with tractors.

Very turned off by the Religious and Political rants.
I hope he gets over it and gets back to what he does best.....Please Chucke2009 / Stretch

I too have enjoyed his videos. I haven't been watching lately so I haven't noticed a change in 'programming'. If this is the case, I will likely unsubscribe unfortunately. Hope he doesn't ruin a good thing.

I get more then enough trash talk than I care to hear right here on TBN in Friendly Politics! Wish some of the members would practice more civility and knock off the personal insults.

I haven't heard what Lance has said but people have become so intolerant of hearing different views and projecting junk that was never said, that I encourage you to listen to people with views you do not hold so as to become used to diversity in thought.

Very, very good advice. Unfortunately our sound bite culture and biased media is making it too easy for people to NOT think for themselves. Seems if I try to discuss a political subject with family or friends, many cannot defend their position if asked... and then somehow I am the bad guy. :confused3:

Ya sure you betcha - you're right, but can you fit the idea on a bumper sticker? :D

OP has been hijacked from a few trying to turn this political. Please don’t. TBN will shut this thread down. This thread is about Stretch and how folks are responding to his recent revelations.

Thx!

Yup, there it is. Nobody talked politics, but somebody jumped and said it was so.

I am all for freedom of speech. It is stretch’s channel and he can put whatever content he wants on there. It just comes as a shock as the guy had a ten year history of educational, informative type videos that have likely helped thousands learn welding and his diving into tractors, mechanics, and farming is entertaining to say the least.

The internet is an amazing thing. The part I love the best about it is you can choose what content you view. It isn’t like TV where they pipe what they want to you. If someone is interested in any type of political stance, religion, whatever you can find whatever you want to read, watch and learn about. I didn’t expect to be fed that type of stuff on a welding channel.

I think part of the shock, like you said above, is we’ve watched him for a long time. He’s literally grown up in front of us. I think he was 18 or so I his first videos about 10 years ago. Then he moved to TX and we watched the shop grow and sponsorships come in. I laughed and cringed as he learned to work on his equipment....all on video of course. I had no interest in bailers but for some reason I watched those too!

He say's his desire to join a movement is stronger than desire to grow a business. It appears sponsors have already pulled out so it will be interesting to see if he find's new sponsors. Whether we admit it or not, most people suppress the desire to reveal certain feelings. History teaches us that will often change as a person become's well known. What I don't understand is why people place importance on what a good welder, famed actor, sports star and other well known individuals say. A renowned surgeon speaking on drug abuse or environment, you bet,I want to hear them out. A motorcycle stunt man,why do sponsors give him a platform for birth control or national defense? Humans defy understanding.

I was surprised by his out of the blue postings but, as almost everything that is delivered to me, if I don't want to entertain it I simply turn it off.

I started watching Chucke2009 about when I bought my $270 Everlast Powerarc 300 back in 2014. I liked the way he was brutally honest. But then as time wore on he seemed to perform more for youtube $$. And he moved from a "welding channel" to an "entertainment channel".

And as far as being like TV, it's very much like TV. With all the subscribe services, Netflix etc. Thousands of choices, often best turned off.

Yup, off button should be used more frequently.

I watched Stretch (and Jody and Kevin and many others) on theTube a LOT over the past few years, as I had a good deal of experience welding with oxy-acetylene, but was in the market for my first electric welder and wanted to learn all I could. (I ended up with the ESAB Rebel EMP 215ic by the way, and I love it.) I have tapered off watching their videos lately, but still enjoy them now and then. I did unsubscribe from Chucke2009 about 6 months ago, as his videos were starting to get too off-point for me. To each his own.

Love Jody... more focused and an expert. Stretch is more of a jack of all trades type.

I like watching Jody’s videos. What you said is right on though. I view him as an expert who is very knowledgeable but often a lot of what he is doing seems beyond what most people would do in a home shop. The appeal of stretch was his projects and what not were the types of things the average person would do not TIG’ing together some high tolerance industrial aluminum part.
