So I was ripping down a 2x4 to approx 2x2. Managed to get my right middle finger in the way under the board.

Thankfully it only nicked my finger tip. Trip to the urgent care. No stitches but a tetanus shot was needed.

Thankfully didn稚 self amputate. Be careful with your power tools.

Yes I realize a circular saw is not the 途ight tool but I don稚 have a table saw.

Table saws scare the bejesus out of me! I gave mine to a buddy, then took some plastic over to him to get ripped. And I still ended up at Emerg!

You are lucky! Without that finger, your driving days would be over.

With that big bandage you can REALLY drive now

Years ago I cut the end off my left pinky with hedge clippers. It didn't hurt, actually just tickled. Wife took me to the hospital but after I went around showing it to the neighbors just to watch their reaction!
The surgeon sewed it back on. It looks o.k. and that's the one I use to pick my nose.

Ouch! Thankfully it wasn't worse. Remember the old B&D saws with a 6" pigtail for an electrical cord? A woman I was spending time with plugged one of those into the wall because she didn't want to take time to find an extension cord. She caught it high enough in the thigh to be lucky she isn't a guy, if you gwt my drift. (also lucky she didn't hit an artery.)
Edit- An equipment operator who sometimes cuts wood for me is missing a fingertip. In place of his fingernail is a tattoo that says "oops".
end edit

Ow! Ow! Ow!

Glad it was just a knick.

When I was a kid, I was watching a neighbor man working on something and noticed one of his finger tips was missing. I bluntly asked, as little kids will do, "What happened to your finger?" He took me in his shop and showed me his radial arm saw, said he was cutting a board and didn't pay attention. Then he put is hand on the table and pulled the non-running saw across his hand and said "Like that!'.

I got a good lesson that day.

Oooooo.....do I have a great cut finger story!
Dad told it, he was service manager at Sears in 50s-60s.
Sears fixes this guys push lawnmower which they roll out onto the loading dock.
"Let me hear it run!" Customer says.
So the Sears repairman starts it up. It runs a minute or two, customer reaches down to pick it up by the deck...whacks off tip of a finger. "What were you thinking?!?!?" Sears repairman asks.
Customer said "it was so quiet I didn't know it was running!".

Another one granddad told (he died in the 80s)...he said happened when he was taking industrial arts 100 years ago.
This student cut tip off of his finger with an electric band saw. He shuts it off, goes over to first aid kit to bandage it. Teacher sees this and asks how it happened. Student goes back over to bandsaw, turns it on, runs a piece of wood through cutting off tip of another finger. "Like this" he said.

Hey, ya gotta clean house....

SOMEBODY has to do it.....

One reason why I never wanted to borrow gloves at work...

The older I get the less flesh is left on my fingers. I make up for it by adding to what's around my middle.

I think that's what they call being proactive.
