I removed mine for the first time today to hook up a small rotary cutter I bought. I wanted to make sure the driveshaft they gave me was the right length. It wasn't so I'm glad I checked before I drag all this machinery to my property. The problem I ran into was the torque bracket for the PTO pump gets in the way of the cross member on the subframe.
In the picture my index is pointing to the torque bracket and the middle is pointing to the cross member I'm trying to clear. I may call my dealer next week and see what he recommends. I'm not sure how I removed it but it was even harder going back on. -Steve
Backhoe PTO pump bracket
Caver, I do not have a rhino backhoe but judging from your stated problem and the picture provided, it sounds like you will have to remove the PTO pump in order to connect your rotary cutter, so if you remove the pump first it would seem your problem is solved, however you loose your ability to maneuver the backhoe hydraulically, a catch twenty two for-sure. You could use a floor jack but this approach is certainly a PIA. There is one other area you might want to check, on my CK-30 I have to remove the draw bar pin in order for the backhoe to slide by, (in fact I do not use the drawbar so I have left it off the tractor altogether) but the first time I tried to remove the backhoe it vexed me for the better part of an hour. Just some suggestions for the weekend until you get to talk to the pros.
