check and make sure all pto is off it will not start with pto on although i don't think that explains the dash lights.

I guess the next step is to check to insure the new ignition switch is plugged in good. It's a real chore to try and get that in there. Maybe it isn't plugged in good, that's the only thing I can think of right now that would cause this. The shop manual talks about a 60amp fuse but I cannot find that fuse on this tractor. I looked at the electrical schematic and sure enough there is a 60amp fuse, but I cannot locate it on this tractor.

Did you have headlights before you replaced the ignition switch? if yes check ignition switch pigtail connection....if no ...makes a better case for a bad main fuse (60amp fuse)...your job is to check for that fuse..find it, this smells like a main power circuit failure. (fuse..fusible link...wires/connectors)

On my 2003 DK 45 that 60 amp main fuse (sometimes called fusible link) was on left side real close to the oil dip stick it was factory tapped-up with black tape hard to see

Thanks intel, look for a wire harness that has a fat taped up section.

Hey, if one is good, two is better, right? ;) Sorry to hear about your kidney stones, I have heard they are very painful. I have been just laying around the house after having surgery to repair my torn bicep. Funny, my spare tire didn't look that heavy! One little tug later, under the knife I go. Youch!

Someone a few months back had posted photos of where the fuse is on the CK's. Might find it by doing a search here for fuse.

Finally found the 60 amp fuse and it is fine. Tested okay with a meter. Pulled the engine stop solenoid and tested that with a 12v battery. tested okay. At this point I am really really lost. I'm just about ready to put a for sale sign on this piece of crap and let it go. I don't know what to check next. Again, the only thing that works is the rear tail lights, and the signal lights and the warning lights. It seems to be anything forward of the rear of the tractor is non operational including the dash lights, and the relays for the engine. This tractor has been split in early spring to repair the bushing in the transmission that the treddle pedal pivots on. I'm wondering if there are any electrical connections there that I should check. Under the tractor maybe. I don't know but this is the most frustrating thing I've ever seen.

On my DK 45 there is an electrical connection to aid when splitting the tractor apart it is under the floor on the right side. also double check the new ignition switch connections. Don't give up yet you are close to solving this.

No! No! You need to sell it! I know I am taking a beating on this, but I am a generous guy, I'll give you $200 for it. But wait! I will even split the shipping with you! :p Sorry, couldn't resist giving you a boot! I think you are on to it now. Spliting the tractor is information we didn't have. There is a big connector allowing you to split the electrical harness. Hey Wallace, where is that connector located?

I've found wires pinched between the bellhousing and block (and between starter..distributer...seat rail...etc..etc.. ) sometimes when reassembly is happening, wires get damaged.

This info may be a good clue. It isn't time to get rid of it yet.;)
