CK series owners- clarify where you fill your engine oil: location on engine

/ CK series owners- clarify where you fill your engine oil: location on engine #11
Now it is starting to make sense. The 1st time i started the engine after changing oil ( from the valve cover ) the engine made a clunking sound so i shut it off. Tried again and it started ok....that probably was a hydro lock from putting oil in to fast. After the 2nd oil change ( also filled from the valve cover ) when i went to start the engine it started very smoothly with no noises. So i am thinking now the reason for the smoke is because it got in the breather and is going to take some time to burn off.

Here is my link that got this post by CM started !

I have a CK35HST..it has both ports. The top looks like a regular auto type cap. My manual has an arrow referencing the top of the engine but yet has a picture like the cap at the base..I filled from the top with small funnel that keeps is slow (not because your supposed to since I had no clue but rather what I use). Also changed the fuel filter and filled the bowel before restarting..no problem mon.
This poses a question:
if your supposed to fill from the bottom then why is their a fill at the top. And looks like a regular automobile fill port to boot..

That's the reason I did it from the top. If you're supposed to use the bottom, why is there a big fill port (pointed out in the manual) on the top. The way I saw it, the small easy access dipstick was for checking, the big hole on top for filling. However, due to the hood and air filter, I needed to use two funnels in sequence to fill, and therefore did it slow. Mine was hard to start after changing, but I think that was due to the fact I had changed the fuel filter and had to bleed the system. It had evened out after a few minutes.

My manual says to fill oil through the orange cap in the middle of the right side and that's what I do. To be honest I didn't even see the cap on the valve cover til I looked real hard. It's black and low profile.

Probably no problem using the valve cover port....you just have to pour slowly. Something the manual should have said, since they luv to print all kinds of warnings. I will now use the right side lower fill port just to be sure the oil is getting to the pan quicker.

Something to consider: there are various configurations of these engines for different markets all over the world. If Kioti already has a cap in the valve cover, why spend money to design and build one that doesn't? So there are two possible fill locations.

Here's the thing about the oil fill procedure: If one lifts the loader, AFTER removing any attachments from it, and props it up with a 2x6 or bigger, and then removes the left side panel* from the side of the engine cowl, access to the IP and environs is much easier to get at. (*Now again, I don't know if the CK actually has a removable side panel, but I think it does - correct me if I'm wrong on this).
Even if it doesn't, having the loader out of the way makes access much easier for oil service, fuel service, etc.

Years ago the So. Korean, Korean manuals were barely decipherable Korenglish. They are much better now, but still have some miles to go until they are totally understandable, for those whose primary language is English. That's also why the dealer networks and TBNers are useful to correct misconceptions, and tweaks to the manuals, both owner's and service. Not everything one reads is meant for prime time.

Hope this helps clear up some of the misconceptions regarding 'best practices' in servicing the CK series.

... my understanding is that the orange marked caps/plugs on the CK are fill ports. I use the IP side one for oil and yes, there is a removable side panel.

That is the way I do it also.

I talked to my dealer to see if my NX45 showed up and to ask him abut the oil fill (I have a CK35). So I asked and he quickly said they had a meeting at Kioti about this subject in the past and gave the exact answer that 'coyote machine' gave and confirmed that indeed you are to fill from the lower port if possible but either works. He also gave the same explanation if you fill it to fast.....alway nice to have a dealer reinforcement.

Thanks for doing the follow-up with your dealer. Good to know there is confirmation for CK owner's to know which way to go.
You're going to have 2 KIOTIS?! Color me jealous!
