Oil & Fuel CK20 fuel tank relocation ?

I think I am going to end up going with a CK20, but with a custom Hoe sub frame.

I will probobly go with a Woods BX70 and a custom subframe to get the outriggers about 1-2" off the rear tires. this would put the BH seat where the fuel tank is.
Has any ever moved the fuel tank on a CK20 ?

After much research I believe the CK20 is the machine I want, but the kioti hoe hangs way off the back and is not going to work for Me.

I have not been able to find and pics of a woods on a CK.
I have just seen the Stock kioti set up that hangs WAY out there.
I can not really see how any hoe could fit tight to the back of a CK20, it would put the BH seat where the fuel tank is.
I plan on having the BH on 90% of the time and want (need) it mounted tight to the back of the tractor.

Thanks for the picture, that is just what I am looking for,,, Minus the 1 foot between the outriggers and the rear tires.

I looked at the woods manual online, I could take 1' out of the bracket between the BH and the 4pt subframe and it would be perfect except the BH seat would be where the fuel tank is. So I have to figure out what to do with the fuel tank ?

Or a B21. I wouldn't move the tank.... and where would you put it? Now you might be able to do that with a CK25/30/35. But, then they're bigger to begin with. Not sure about the length, but what about a TYM T273?

What one sees can be deceiving, but when I saw 2 CK20's next to each other, one with the factory BH and the other with the Woods, the one with the Woods looked to be sticking out further.

It might have been because the the Woods BH was just smaller, making it look as though it was sticking out further.

Personally, if I were to make the choice again, I'd still go with the Factory BH. It comes with a rear remote, cost was a couple bucks less and it just looked more sturdy.

BTW, I wouldn't want any custom frame with any BH. Reason is is that if anything breaks, it's going to be blamed on the custom sub-frame. When you're spending this kind of money, I say leave well enough alone and only change it if there is a problem one can't get around without it being shorter.

That might be true, but the over all size is of the LK30 TLB is probably much larger the a CK20 TLB. Which I would think defeats the purpose of getting the smaller CK20.

Looking at the woods setup for the CK20, I would leave the woods subframe as it is. I would take the plasma to the bracket that is bolted to the BH and remove about 1' out of the center of it and tig weld it back together. Looks like it would be easy, except the fuel tank would be in the way.

The LK is to big (I have a big backhoe), The Kubota's just don't do it for Me (to skinning, to lite)
The CK20 is the only machine I have sat on that I did not feel I was giving something up, it just felt "right", now if I can get the backhoe thing right in My mind.

Less weight = Better Fuel Mileage . Fuel is over $4/gallon now.

Plus it's easier to park and maneuver.

Personally, I'd with my CK20 had a flip over seat and the BH was closer to the tractor. I like a more compact tractor .... Maybe because I only have an acre of land.

Yeah, Nick, that CK20 fuel tank is a big problem. Like you, I would not
want one of those subframes that stick so far out back.

I have owned the CK20 and it is a very impressive smaller CUT. My B21
is about the same weight, but with an excellent integrated hoe. Very
nimble, too, due to the short wheelbase. I think you should get a used
B21.

BTW, the LK3054 TLB has a well-integrated hoe, but it does not offer
HST.

The CK20 in standard form with a BH only uses about half a gallon per hour. How much do you think you would save by cutting up the subframe?

I'm not sure that changing the size from 17 feet to 15.5 feet would really make much of a difference with parking either.

I'd personally be looking at the BX24 if I really wanted/needed something smaller for an acre. Except in the loader department it is capable of pretty much everything the CK20TLB can manage and definitely is shorter/smaller. Comes with a flip over seat too.

Yep, that is why I pointed out that "except in the loader dept". No question if you need a strong loader then the CK20 is the way to go. But I would seriiously refigure how to go about doing the work with a BX24 before I started cutting up a perfectly good Woods BH or do stuff like relocating a fuel tank just to save a foot and a half of length on a CK20 TLB. Resale may not be a big consideration but I'd guess that modifying the BH or tractor would lower resale and pretty much exclude any trade in value as dealers wouldn't touch it.

If you are bent on really doing this......What if you raised the operator platform so that the seat is on top of the fuel tank? I just don't see where you might move the fuel tank and still be safe.

The Kubota B2150 suffers from this fuel tank location, too. This photo is
of a b/h seat support modification so it clears the tank. For the CK20,
this could be done, and maybe a custom lower tank can be fabbed.

The CK20 is a very attractive CUT in that it is stoutly built, yet its half the
cost of a B21. It is nothing like a sub-CUT, like the BXs.

As for custom subframes, these can be made to be better than the factory-
built units.
