CK20 powerful enough?

Aosbill, when you first turn the tractor on, the glow plug lights for about 8 secs. After it turns off, slightly turn the key a little more to the right, as Steve said, and run the glowplugs again for about the same time. You may do this several times, but I would stick to 8-10 secs at a time. Once it's good an warmed up, then turn all the way to ignition and the tractor should run.
I'm so happy I don't live where it gets so cold, and so is my CK20! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif John

What about using the compression release lever? Couldn't we use that to help it start a little easier?

Steve,

I'm metric challenged....so to get the full "drift" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I looked up the US equivalents.

Snowfall amounts ranging from 30 (11.8") to 60 (23.6") centimetres and wind gusts up
to 100 km/h (62.1 m/h) are forecast to give blizzard conditions to mainland Nova Scotia today. Cape Breton will receive 50 (19.6") to 70 (27.5") centimetres through
Monday evening.

You are having FUN!

For problems starting in colder weather do as KiotiJohn stated it will help a ton. Also once you get the tractor started you can further preheat the glow plugs for a bit to get it to run better. Once you start just let your foot off the clutch (make sure tractor is in N, and Parking Brake is set) then just turn the key a little further to the right. It will engage the glow plugs again and usually smooth the engine right now. Should only need to do this for a couple a few seconds or so.

Just a side note: On LB1914 models you can also preheat the glow plugs manually. One click to the right turns on the automatic timer then with your foot off clutch turn the key to the start position and that will allow you to manually preheat the glow plugs longer. Once the engine is running you can also do as I stated above and engage them again when the engine is running. Just make sure your foot is OFF the clutch. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This little has helped me out in the past a ton of times. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes you can use the compression release (CK20ST), what I do is raise the hood, standing on the right side I reach around with my right hand, hold the release lever, with left hand turn the key, get'er spinnin' and release the lever. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Dirthauler said it. Yes, you can use the decompression lever, but it's still a help to warm the plugs for extra time, especially in that awful cold you're all having. I guess I shouldn't complain that it's supposed to be 22 degrees F tonight, but it will soon be back in the high 60s to 70s.
Don't like the weather here? Stick around for an hour, it'll change. John
