CK20 redesign ?

Most if not all the other CUT manufactures are going with more HP in there CUT lines. There SCUT lines are now were the CK20 is at now. So should Kioti just drop the CK20 and go with the CK27 as the entry level? Just a thought.

Horsepower is where the marketing departments focus there advertising dollars because they know the general public obsesses about horsepower. Diesel engines develop much more torque than gasoline engines. My first diesel tractor only had 17 horsepower and I was always amazed at the work I could do with it.

I am not knocking the CK20 but I have one option on a purchase. I have had a Large Garden tractor with 2 ranges. I worked in low 90% of the time. How does the CK20 work in low range? Any hill issues?

while i admit that i would love a mid range as well, the ck20hst is a brute in low range. my property is on the side of a small mountain in NH and my driveway is gravel and over 800' long with some pretty good slope. in high range i can't climb my driveway with just the tractor..... in low range i grade (pulling a 5' rear blade digging into the gravel) the driveway uphill (to pull all the material back up that washes out in heavy rain...) no problems.... i can also climb the driveway with a full bucket of material and with BH on at the same time (basically adding over 2,000lbs between the two)... no problems.... i guess that's where the issue arises.... there is such a difference in power drop off from high to low, that a happy medium for "working" transport would really make the ck20 that much better...

i have just turned 300 hours on mine and just love it.... you will not go wrong... by the way the low range still moves at about 5-6mph anyway.... just gives you more seat time....

good luck

No problems with the blower.... with my terrain, i did invest in vbar chains for the rear.... now its a tank in the winter... even when the driveway gets icy due to the snow melting and refreezing... i can blow snow going down and up the driveway...everyone told me that a 54" blower would be too much for the lower hp pto (i think it's rated at 16 or 17), but again the machine handles it well... now i wish i had gone to a 60" blower... i usually run the blower at about 2200rpm, with plenty of hp too spare...sorry, but i can't figure out how to add photos (i used to be able to add them to this forum), otherwise i'd show you my set up...jim

I have a 60" rear blower on my CK20HST too. My driveway certainly is not flat and I run the snowblower up hill without problems. I have thought about chains but have not found a need for them yet, with the loaded tires and extra weight of the cab it never had a problem with traction. I am also going in reverse and the tread of the tires (industrial - R4?) is designed for more traction rolling in reverse than forward. As far as the blower, you can see the driveshaft that runs from the rear PTO to the chaincase on the snowblower. It is a very simple setup and works very well.

I am sure everyone has seen my setup before but here are a couple of pics: (click images for larger view)

... The CK20 frame size is ideal for smallish acreage and that size is an important part of the market. ...

I'm with IT. I looked hard at the Kubota BX-23, as well as JD, NH and others. The CK20HST (very glad I got the HST) was the largest tractor I could fit in the garage and through narrow places around my property, and the smallest that could lift half a ton in front and bust out a ton in back with that easy-detach BH. As they say in Old Blighty, it's horses for courses. For my 2+ acres of heavy landscaping work, it's been just right. A mid-range gearing and faster hydros (mainly for FEL movement) would be nice. But as far as power goes, I rarely run the thing over 2400RPM, which is probably 70% power or so. (Anybody know?) And force is usually limited by release valves anyway, not engine power. I assume that a complete hydraulic redesign for higher pressure would be needed if they raised feed power, and that would have to boost the price some.

Well-balanced machine all around, IMO.

To me, the solution is very clear. Own more than 1 tractor!!!:D:D:D

Seriously, one size fits all really means it fits nobody. We need biggger and smaller options for sure.

If I had the $, I would love to have a CK 20 also.

Agreed. It would greatly benefit from a three range HST which I have to believe the folks at Kioti are going to add one of these days. That two speed is the only real weakness on the CK20 and now that Kubota has abandoned the 2 speed units I gotta believe Kioti will follow suit.

Add the 3 range HST and to the new quick attach FEL mount and you've got an even stronger argument that the CK20 is the ultimate 5 acre machine.
