I have been doing a lot of research on compact tractors and TBN has been an excellent resource!

I have 2 dealers quoting me on a CK20H. Among many things, one of the big reasons for purchasing the tractor is for leave pickup in the fall. I have about 3 acres of land and a lot of oak trees on my yard and the process of picking up leaves in the fall is a process to say the least. I have a riding lawn mower now (Craftmans 19 horse lawn mower) that I use to pick them up, using the mowing deck and grass catching unit. I also have a Craftsman lawn sweeper that works well. The problem is with the amount of leaves that I get. The grass catcher clogs very easily and the lawn sweeper will ride on top of the leaves without the wheels spinning when the leaves get thick. To avoid the problem, no joke, I need to be out there a couple of times a week for a month.

What options are there for leave pickup. I was looking at getting the MMM w/ side discharge and a PTO powered Trac-Vac unit. I got quotes and the price of the MMM in comparison to the rear mower is quite a bit more. Also the rear mount from what I've read is easier to deal with (removing and installing) and doesn't leave attachment pieces on the under side of the tractor. Does anybody have any suggestions on the matter. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend this type of set-up. Rear 3 point mowers have no way of picking up leaves that I am aware of. A self contained leaf vac with it's own motor would be easier to quickly attach and dettach than the 3 point hook up (IMO), but - you would have another motor to maintain.

Has anyone ever seen a leaf pick up and mulching system for a PTO and 3 pt hitch?

While researching the best method for leave collection, I did find one system by Trac-Vac that used the 3 point hitch and the PTO, rather than and independent engine. Check out the link below:

If anybody has any experience with these systems, I would love to hear your opinions. It seems that some people have recommended the systems with a separate engine, but it would seem that having a PTO driven system would save on maintenance.
