CK30 FEL Joystick repair

Mine doesn't sit in the rain either. The nylon balls are getting worn a little on mine and I have the new kit with steel balls to change out when I get a chance. My problem was in those caps. Maybe from Winter plowing. They are exposed to slop and mounted to the front of the block. There was a little moisture along with light rust mixed in with the factory grease inside both caps. When I remounted the caps, I used silicone seal on the small mounting flange of the caps. I hope it keeps the moisture out. I made the repair before Winter and all is still good after numeroud snow plowings.

Talked to my dealer today, he is in Oregon. He is ordering the two cables for me and when I replace them I will grease the balls. Will get them late next week, long weekend coming up.

FYI mine is rarely in the rain too. The rubber boot was cracked though.

Follow your loader cables down to the control valve. On the end of the valve towards the front of the tractor, you'll see two caps held in place with allen head screws. Remove the outer one and you will see how the detent works. Similar to male and female ends of air hose fittings. The cap has three tiny balls in it (like the female end of the hose fitting) that will wear out and then the float just won't hold or if the float is hard to engage - you need grease in that cap. Very simple to take care of unless the balls are shot, then the float won't hold - I know from experience..........and the new cap is over a hundered bucks. Good idea to keep your balls greased:)

Just took off the two end caps as suggested. Did not see anything unusual.
Put some grease in it but no difference. Will change out the two cables when I get them from my dealer. The main problem is that the joystick, ONLY when pushed forward from the middle position, does not want to return, so the loader will keep going lower even when you have released the joystick. This is not in the float position. All the other potions, back and left, right, the joystick comes right back. If anyone has other info kindly post.

With the caps off, your's looks nice and clean. Way much better than mine was. I guess you have one third eliminated and soon two thirds with the cables. The last thing is the cinimatic(spelling) kit. That's the one with the three balls and a pedestal type thing that the actual joystick is bolted through. Maybe one of the original plastic balls are worn and binding in one direction. The front/back or raise/lower is the one on the left of your picture. The outer one on the block. It should be as good as new when your done.

Thought I'd bump this thread back up in case there are others like me that didn't think the loaders even had float.

Getting the FEL into float is more a linkage adjustment than anything. The cables can be adjusted at both ends and it's just getting it right.

How do you get the boot off to fix the jam nut? I can't get mine to budge.

Thank you,

Mark

There other threads in here with more detail, but in a nutshell the best way is as follows;
1. remove seat, knob & housing for 3pt lever, plate where seat mounts. This gives you unfettered access to joystick. Can't quite remember if I had to remove or just loosen 3pt lever mechanism.
2. remove two bolts mounting the joystick assembly, drop down and you can remove boot. I would take the joystick lever out, clean up real well then apply some locktite on that badboy and reassemble in the appropriate position.

The first two times I did it I just went in from underneath by removing the two mounting bolts, but it is tough, tight working conditions. After using the method above I haven't had to do it again. Good luck.
