CK35 HST- Gears are extremely hard to change

OK, so I guess the rocker pedal is the one that makes you go forward and backward...never heard it called that. Mine definately gets a little stuck going forward or backward sometimes and instead of just removing my foot from it, I have to physically center it to get it to stop.

Ahhh, now you're into a whole different topic. That's the dreaded CK creep! Been there, done that. My dealer fixed mine but most people aren't willing to believe my dealers fix is the way it needs to be fixed. You'll get plenty of people saying grease this, lube that, try some adjustments. Not many people ever say they get it fixed. My dealer said he was well aware of the issue when I first brought it up. They did some tests and eventually split the tractor and replaced the HST. Not a cheap fix, although, mine was done under warranty. One things for sure A LOT of CK owners and CT2XX (Bobcat) owners have reported the problem on TBN over the years.

So, with the tractor trying to creep forward, there's a lot of pressure on those gears and you'll never get it to change ranges. You need to center the (rocker) pedal and it should be fairly easy after that. The DK's have a two pedal set up and I've never heard of people complaining about the pedals not returning to center, but it can still need a little kick forward or backwards to get it to change range.

You can do a lot of reading on the subject of HST creep for CK's here if you like.

When my NX has trouble finding a range gear, I step on either the forward or reverse pedals just a little bit and the range selector eases right into gear. If that fails to work, then inspect the linkage for looseness, binding, proper lubrication, and foreign objects. I've found sticks jamming up stuff in the past before I added the belly plates on my tractor.

Eric's probably found trees and small cars wedged up in the linkage, he may be an exception to the rule of it being a linkage issue! He's a little rougher on stuff than most of us.

I have photos but somehow the photos are never as impressive as they are in person. As I've learned what needs to have guards as well as more finesse on my part, my stick problems are going away. In the big picture trying to figure out how change service territory of my two local power companies looks like that will be my biggest challenge to developing my parcel.

Good Info Guys, mine does the same thing. Sometimes it's very difficult to change ranges. I haven't tried the Hydro rocker pedal, I'll do that the next time it acts up. I'm at only 40 hr's, I was hoping it would loosen up on it's own.

I've always found that if you push firmly on the brake pedal it always helps. If I try to slightly tap the rocker one way or the other, gear grinding will occur when you try to get it into the next range and no, I'm not depressing the rocker after it comes out of gear. I'm at almost 600 hrs now.

Brakes, idle and a little tap on the HST pedal usually (forward) works for me.

Yep, that worked for me when it happened Saturday.

The 3 speed on my Kubota HST can be a bit stiff at times as well, i believe most HSTs are that way. Relieving the stress on the drive train usually works. If you are on a slope and rolling at all apply the brakes hard. Sometimes you need to let it roll an inch or two. Sometimes a bump of the go pedal to roll an few inches or make the gears turn a hair to line up is what it takes.

If you are moving much at all, you are going to grind gears, but sometimes you have to move an inch or two to get things to line up.

Sometimes letting go of the clutch pedal part way (just to where it is going to grab) helps to align the gears, too.

Another thing that happens. When it's been left overnight (or nights). When I first crank up and press the rockeer pedal it sounds like it's grinding. Is that a normal thing?
