No, that's not normal for me. Only time I get a grinding noise is if I try to shift without putting in the clutch.

I get grinding any time the tractor is moving & I try to shift. Sometimes I need to let it roll a hair so gears will line up. It won't really grind there as it slips in after less than 1 tooth of movement. I don't recall grinding related to the clutch & don't clutch to shift much if at all.

Another thing that happens. When it's been left overnight (or nights). When I first crank up and press the rockeer pedal it sounds like it's grinding. Is that a normal thing?

Sounds like you are not fully engaged in the range you have selected. Try moving the range selector to neutral, verify by stepping on the treadle, wait a couple seconds and reselect the desired range. If this works, stop using the range selector handle to help you get on and off the tractor.

Thanks Amv, maybe I'm not getting it all the way in gear. Ha-ha...but I don't use that range selector to get on the tractor though :)
