Maybe it's thermal related. It seems to happen to you after using it for a while. I had this problem with an ignition module on my JD. Ended up paying the dealer almost $200 dollars to cut his own grass with my machine so the problem would show up for him. I wasn't too happy about that bill.

Jaybr, did the electrical problem get fixed? It sounds like the dealer is trying to fix it, but those recurring problems seem like the one-in-a-thousand "lemon" that he might think about replacing with a new tractor. Our lemon laws are for automobiles, don't know about tractors (doubt it).

You made the right purchase, something just got gummed up on that one...

Have they tried replacing the ignition switch? I used to have problems on startup. I think something was dirty/loose in the switch. I would spray electric contact cleaner in it and it would be fine for a while but if I let it sit for a week or two it would have problems again. I put in a new switch and haven't had any more problems. I haven't had time to take the old switch apart and see what was wrong with it. I see it has screws holding it together so it must be serviceable.

Tractor came back from dealer last week after third trip. This time they replaced the wiring harness, ignition switch, and a couple other relays I believe. I haven't had time to even start it since it got home, but plan on doing some work this weekend.

Dealer and I discussed a new tractor if it's not right this time, and he informed Kioti that was what was expected if the problem is not resolved. Our lemon laws state 3 trips to dealer for same problem, I haven't checked to see if they apply to tractors.

My dealer has been great to work with, he picks up the tractor and delivers it back free each time, even though I have a trailer. I know it's a simple problem and I just want it fixed.

Would be interesting to see if single wire cutoff solenoid on injection pump is getting power during the no start event. Really what else electrically could it be? If thats powered up and open during cranking and fuel is present it has to run.

When I have the starting issue, that soleniod is not opening. I've checked power at the plug and always had 12v, even when I couldn't get it to start.

Since the immediate solution to the problem was always to unplug the connector to the solenoid and plug it back up, my theory is that the connector was loose and it wasn't getting enough current to open the solenoid. The first time I had the starting problem was the weekend I bought the tractor, wiggling that solenoid connector fixed it and the problem didn't reappear for 2 months and 45 hours of use.

Ran the tractor for 5 hours bush hogging this weekend without any starting or cut off issues. I do have a new problem now, the glow plug pre-heat is not working, light never came on. I'll be checking fuses and connections tomorrow then calling the dealer if I don't find anything.

To be sure you know, if the engine is warmed up the glow plugs will not cycle. Only at low coolant temps will you get the pigtail dash light.

I knew that ;)

The connector to the coolant temp sensor at the thermostat was disconnected, all is fine now.
