Hi. I just got back from a test drive of a ck4010 gear and a ck3510 hydro. One thing I noticed on the tach was two pto speed markings. I asked the sales guy about a dual speed pto and he said it had an economy setting. He didn't know how it worked. I couldn't tell from looking at the tractor. Anyone have one of these and would be willing to explain how it works? Does the tractor have enough torque to mow with it for example?

The E setting is just the 540 pto rpm but at a lower engine rpm speed it is used when you don't need as much torque on the PTO for mowing etc... It normally uses less fuel with less engine RPM.

Thanks jabelding. How do you set that mode? Ive seen a lever with a 540e label on it on other tractors. Otherwise wont the pto be doing about 250 when the engine is at like 1800?

Usually it is a different lever position on the pto engage. It may only be on the European models it is fairly standard in Europe.

On my 2004 CK30hst, the pto engage lever has two positions. Either 540 or 1,000 pto rpm at 2,600 engine rpm. Most USA attachments don't run at 1,000 pto rpm, so you lower the engine rpm to get the 540 pto shaft rpm providing you have enough engine power to do what is needed. Some members have used the 1,000 pto rpm on their rear mount snowblowers for light snow falls. As mentioned, European attachments use the 1,000 pto rpm. They must have a different gear ratio in the gear boxes.

Usually the 540E rpm is about 750 if you ran it at the 540 rpm engine rpm so it is not quite the 1000 setting.

From what I can find online and my inspection of the tractor itself, it looks like there isn't a 540e mode on the ck3510. The tach is marked but the pto lever on the left side of the seat only has two positions neutral and 540.
