Claas knotter problem

I have a claas dominant conventional square baler. It will miss tie around 5 bales per 100 sometimes more. the longer tail of the loop knot seems to snag in the retainer when it should be released this then causes the knot to pull out as it comes off the bill hook. There doesn't seem to be any pattern it could happen at either side. Has anyone ever had this problem before or have any ideas?

Is the wiper arm in full contact with the billhook foot on the bad side ? If not, bend it until it scrapes the soon to be completed knot off the billhook.

Or, is it a problem with the two ends of the future knot not being brought together ?

Thanks for your thoughts. The claas knotter is a different design to newholland etc it relies on the next bale in the chamber to pull the knot off the bill hook there are no scraper arms.

G'day Graham do you have the owners manual for this? If you do then they have a very good guide to setting up the knotters, we had one with a similar fault last year and ended up putting a new bill hook in it and whilst it didn't cure the fault completely it dropped the failure rate down to about 2/100 bales. If you don't have a manual I can look it up for you when I get back to work unfortunately this won't be until late next week.

Thanks Jon. I don't have an operators manual but I have the workshop manual so the knotters and needles are set according to it.
