Thanks. However the forks and receiver projects are relatively simple and are good projects for the beginner. It should take no more than 2-4 hours to complete either project. There is only one critical dimension (riser block height) and that only comes into play if you want to use these with a toothbar still attached.

As for the welds, the key word is penetration. Almost all of the welds are multiple passes with a good solid root pass first. Pretty easy if you know what you are doing and have good equipment. Fancy, perfect looking welds are not always the strongest.

Oooooooooooooooops!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yea, the clamps, welds, and even the paint were identical. So that's why I got them mixed up. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MadReferee, I really like those forks, I have an idea or question: Can this be made with say 1" pipe to accomodate an implement pin for say hitching a boom pole up for truss lifting? Would just have to weld a bucket hook in the middle for a chain adjustment to the top link /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Or would 1" pipe make the opening too big between the plate for snugging up to the bucket as tight as possible? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Not sure what you are asking for. Do you want to make forks so that they can connect to the 3pt and the bucket? Which piece would be 1" pipe? Cat 1 lift pins are 7/8". /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Mad Ref, Sorry I wasn't very clear, I was thinking that if the pipe on the forks would accomodate the 7/8" cat 1 pins of a boom pole,While clamped in place on the loader bucket It could also hold a boom pole with the addition of a connection for the top link to the top of the FEL bucket . It would extend the length of the boom pole for lifting not so heavy items higher for special needs...

Don't know if this is any clearer, But I'm sure it would work ,that would give it dual purpose from one implement...

How much did it cost to build? I think it would suit my needs perfectly.

Well, you would have to change the size of the pipe to 7/8" and do a very, very good job of welding the pipe to the risers. I honestly don't think you can get it strong enough with the materials I used. Remember the pipe is just there to fit snugly against the beveled bucket cutting edge to help keep the fork from twisting.

It should take no longer than 3-4 hours to build a pair of forks once you get the design right for your tractor. Cost of steel will vary depending on your source, scrap or new. My cost will probably be much less than yours because I buy in quantity (1000 lbs delivered just today). /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Will your forks work on any bucket or is modification necessary? I don't weld but I'm thinking I may take your design (once you post it) to a local welder for a price quote. Would that be ok with you?
