If you see in my post I stated hire a kid that will work and I have had boys work for me that did a good job If your quote proves true for you sorry about your luck. kids need to be taught to work and given the chance IMHO

Oh, I see now. It comes in red! (post #1). Not so good looking.

Hello rutwad, in australia they get old worn steel digger or dozer tracks and open them out then attatch a chain(skew) to each end and tow them creating a wind row of sticks . You can do several rounds per row to get a decent row if you need to. You then use a root rake to push the row into heaps and burn onsite. The track chain means it will follow the contour well, and hold the sticks and the track plates stop the chain from rolling and loosing the sticks.

Looks like you are using a Landscape rake, don't work the greatest but I cannot think of any better way. Pickup the big ones let the smaller ones rot.

I had a reclaimed a pasture that looked like that. I needed to get it seeded to catch the spring rains so I went ahead and seeded. I let the grass grow over the smaller stuff and then went back in after it was grazed down and picked up the larger pieces that the cows ate around. I ended up picking up much, much less that way than I would have otherwise. You look to be creating a hay field? If so, you will need to get the larger chunks out somehow. If it is not a hay field and you are going to brush hog it, just get the ones picked up your brush hog will not shred over time.
