I hope to join the club soon. I need more than my old 9N for a slowly expanding horse and hay operation. Anyway, is there any consensus on whether a 3525 can handle a square baler and/or whether a 5525 can handle a round baler? Not currently baling myself but hope to do so someday. Thanks. Love this forum so far.

Hello there,

My wife and I took a day off from work and went tractor shopping. She was dead set against anything other than the 3525 based on price, simplicity, and durability. In fact, she wouldn't even sit on a 4110 or anything with 4wd. The dealer was very helpful and informative.

Then, we traveled to a second Mahindra dealer and did some comparision shopping. He showed us a better price on the 3525 with FEL and he will deliver for free (50mile drive). We were kicking tires and I was asking questions about the Japanese and Korean Mahindras. During this discussion, he mentioned a very attractive price on a 2615 gear with FEL along with 4-year zero percent financing. My wife's ears perked right up then and she started climbing all over this tractor. I was set on the 3525, but the 2615 does offer some nice features and will probably meet our needs nicely.

Confused now!

Have you folks heard of any problems with the 2615 series? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I have heard nothing but praise for the 2615. My dealer sells them like hotcakes.:) His words. I haven't checked one out good, as my Big RED Beast is a lot bigger than a 2615. Or even a 4110.
hugs, Brandi

Mike,

My Dad bought a 2615 gear about a month after I bought my 3525. I think the only weak point on the 2615 is the FEL, and specifically, the light-duty, under-engineered bucket that comes standard with the ML106 loader. That's the weak link in that chain as far as I know. KMW/Mahindra really needs to address that issue... the bucket truly is not up to the capability of the tractor. That, and Dad said that the filters that he's bought have been EXPENSIVE for the 2615.

If you're planning on some heavy FEL use, the Buhler-manufactured loader and bucket on the 3525 is much better IMHO, having used both. I think the 3525 will also lift nearly 900 pounds more as well (if my memory serves...) and lift it quite a bit higher.

The engine on the 2615 is MUCH quieter than the 3525 as well... but I think it's an indirect injection engine vs. the direct injection engine in the 3525. Just the nature of the beast there.

To me the 2615 feels more "cramped" than the 3525, but I'm not so sure that the seat on Dad's tractor is installed correctly... with it all the way back, there's still a gap of about 8-10 inches from the back of the seat to the fuel tank... I don't think the seat is bolted on through the right holes on the rails.

Those are the main not-so-obvious things that come to my mind, 2615 vs. 3525.

I think I'd like the 2615 better for the light around-the-house work like mowing grass and whatnot, but when it comes to bushhogging and FEL work around my property, the 3525 wins hands down.

Were I to make the same decision to buy today rather than last August, I think I'd still probably go with the 3525, but it would be a much tougher decision now, after having spent a few hours on Dad's 2615. Actually, I don't know which way I would go... might just have to flip a quarter if the prices were in the same ballpark.
