Re: Belly Armor

And, finally, a kinda dark look, up from the floor, right to left.

Just found this club - great idea!

4310 PowerReverser, 430 loader w/4 in 1 bucket, 5' box blade, chain harrow, LX5, 72" Bush Hog RFM, R4's. Sure wish I had a backhoe. My favorite attachment is the JD umbrella that mounts onto the ROPS. Way too much sun here in the Sunshine State.

The PowerReverser is great, but I really wish I had an e-Hydro for mowing. For loader and box blade work, the Reverser is awsome.

Beside the backhoe, my wish list includes a toothbar, pallet forks and a fertilizer spreader. 4310's rule!

Lots of great info sharing!

Tell us about the LX5. Would you recommend a MX5 or LX6?

How does that umbrella deal with limbs?

I gave $5K for my 47Hoe. It IS awsome. I know many say to only consider the 48, but it was hard for me to justify the 47. I am VERY satisfied...

I almost went the eReverser route, there is a pretty good chunk of change between them. It is refreshing to hear someone admit they'd do differant. Most folks try and justify their decision. Your stating that may really help someone else. But I am sure the eReverser is very good, nonetheless!!!

WARNING IMAGE QUALITY HAS BEEN HARMFULL TO, AT LEAST TWO, EYES

 Forgive interuption with JN4310.

I had a problem with the rear lwr cornars of the LX5 getting bent when backing into brush.
Added a couple of short tubes and plates to the lwr rear corners and the housing is solid as a rock. Welding on the tubes also quited the LX5 alot, no more lite-housing rattle/hum. Have to look back every once in awhile to be sure it's still in the cutting mode, when doing the grass /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

What interruption? That's the input we need!

If I have to beed it up. maybe I'd be happier with the mx5...

Now where do I go to get my eyes fixed after looking at your pic. Ouch! I do not mean to complain, but is there any chance of getting a little clearer?

Put cheapest poss. camera into the hands of unskilled photographer on a very bright day and the resulting image could, I'll admit, be less than perfect.....add to that the need to reduce the images size by unskilled photo editor to below the 100,000(somethings) limit and-------I am very sorry to say, Rocky------ Your eyes may very well be (gulp)---- permanantly damaged.

Further attempts at editing the image have not been fruitfull.

I will, when/if confidence returns, attempt a new, less harmful image of my MASTERPIECE, heavy duty LX5.

I wish you could have seen it (without ruining your vission for any future chance of seeing a less harmfull image), real easy and much cheaper than MX5. If money didn't matter, I'd have an MX5 and you might still be able to see.

Feeling guilty and bad. I should not have interupted. Will add WARNING to prior post

No problem, Les, My blinkers weren't too good from the git go...

My quoted prices were $1090 for the LX5 , $1317 for LX6 and $1390 for the MX5. I am trying to learn what our 4310 team feels about the cutters before shelling out the cash...

BTW, I really like the current seat. I am impressed with how comfortble it stays. I am sure Deere isn't making a big deal about it because you still see some of the old style on lots...

Mike

Here the LX5 cost me $975 and MX5 was quoted at $17++. For a $300 diff, I'm sure I would have gone with the MX on looks (beefier) alone. I'm do not know what diff. there may be in the running gear/blades (moving parts) but the housing appeared much more substantial on the MX.
Also on my LX, I now have half-moon ridges (about 6"-8" long) near the front and rear edges of the top of the housing. Deck flexed down or blades flexed up while riding over 2"-4" alder. The alder did get chopped up though.
I suppose I should be gentle.. but I'm not. So LX5, though not very old, does have some character now (appearance wise) /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That helps a lot...

BTW in my previous post, I was changing gears when I mentioned the seat, I was referring to the tractor's seat. Don't want anyone thinking we Okies have seats on our BrushHogs (Okies NEVER call them rotary cutters or BushHogs...)
