I noticed a clutch pedal latch to hold the clutch depresses on my L5030. I have not used it ever. Is it suppose to have a purpose?

I've never used one, but it is my understanding that it is to use for long term storage to keep the plates from sticking.

Yes. This is what the owner's manual for my B2320 has to say about storing the tractor for an extended period of time.

"Keep the clutch disengaged. If the clutch is left engaged for a long period of time, the clutch plate may rust, making clutch disengagement impossible at the next operation."

The manual doesn't define "extended" or "long," but six months would qualify IMO.

That makes sense, My Farmall clutch got stuck after not using it and a suggestion was to block it depressed. That fixed the problem. That was a 1947 tractor - the same problem occurs in the new tractors, now at least they have a latch instead of including a block of wood.

My B2320 came with a block of wood for that purpose.:)
