Since it is a gear drive trans (not hydrostat) nothing else comes to mind but clutch slipping. I assume the engine revs out/ isn't bogging down while this is occurring? If engines is straining, it is possibly an issue with brakes being engaged or another issue not allowing the machine to pull. It's a little unusual if symptoms of a slipping clutch start suddenly. For instance, usually you would notice the clutch slipping while in high range/or high gear and notice that a lower range/gear worked fine. As time passes it requires lower and lower gear rations to keep the machine pulling properly.

Has the above described scenario been present or did this issue happen suddenly ( worked fine then all at once it only pulled in low range/1st gear)? There is usually some adjustment available through the linkage from the clutch pedal. Letting some slack out in the linkage would possibly allow the clutch to better engage. The pedal should always be adjusted with a small amount of free play/movement before it begins to disengage the clutch, otherwise premature clutch wear can occur. If the operator "rides" the clutch and allows it to often slip, this too will cause premature failure.

Your manual should cover any type of adjustment that can be done. Also look at the pedal linkage and make sure nothing is keeping it from free/full movement.

Not sure of your unit but my kubota has 1" of play in the clutch peddle...2" and things don't work correctly.

the low range slipping was overnight but it did slip a little in higher gears before. i will try to adjust linkage and see what happens. i make an effort to not ride the clutch so i hope clutch isn't shot.

If it has been slipping for a while you are most likely in for a new clutch. I would certainly try some adjustment, you may get lucky but I wouldn't be too optimistic on how much more service you will get out of it. A new clutch will require the tractor to be split at the engine and bell housing. Not an overwhelming job for a shadetree mechanic. You will probably have to take the loader off and an extra person to help separate and pull the halves back together but it is probably an easy weekend job. A cab may create a bigger job but probably still a weekend project.

Looks like a pressure plate, disc and t/o bearing runs about $300 online....I would replace the pilot bearing while I was in there too. If you have a dealer do the job for you, expect to spend $1K or so

runs like new after i adjusted clutch linkage, no play in pedal before, now i've got @1". being it's been slipping worried clutch may prematurely fail now. maybe luck will be on my side.

Glad you got it working. If you have to replace the clutch at a future date (we had this after adjusting the clutch since the damage was already done) in addition to those things Kernopelli mentioned, I would also suggest having the flywheel resurfaced. If it is a step-down flywheel you may want to call a shop before you take it to be sure they can do that.
