hey guys. I am hoping one of you old pros can give me some info, now I am pretty good at auto mechanics and based on my knowledge there I guessing my clutch just went out, I went to use my 4500 today and I cannot get it to go in gear, when I try to put it in it just grinds and wont go, I had no problem when I parked it the other day, everything was normal, if it is the clutch anyone got an idea of the repair cost

Sounds more like your clutch is stuck and not disengaging.

possible, what would cause that and would you how I might fix it if that's the problem

My 4025 did it once and I was able to get it free. I put it in 4-high, set the parking brake, I had already put the loader bucket down at a hard angle to hold the tractor, fired it up and it tried lurched forward, the engine stalled, pushed in the clutch and all was right again. I am not supposed to tell you I disabled some start safety interlock switches to do this. The cause probably is the clutch sticking to the flywheel due to moisture. Lots, if not all new clutches are made of new material with a certain amount of metal (tiny particles) made into them, they basically rust and stick to the flywheel (no more asbestos that really works good). Just block the clutch pedal down when parking and you won't have the problem. It probably says that in the owners manual (mine does). I did not pay attention to it, until it happened to me.

easy way is to force it into high 1st then get moving throttle up a bit hold down the clutch and pop the brake.... should pop it loose... it happens in high humidity when moisture builds up on the clutch pad and pressure plate... sticks them together sometimes to the point of needing to split the tractor to fix.. with it being a 4500 that older tractor can get clutch ware on the pad.. and moisture can hold in those divots... let it sit long enough and it rust both plates together

and it is the problem... just idle down put it in high and force it into 1st gear... if its a shuttle.. put it in high first than push the shuttle into forward

my 3016hst has a 'clutch' pedal. is it the same type as in a geared unit or it it just some way to divert or stop hydraulic fluid flow?

l ask because there's a wire on the pedal designed to be able to be hooked to hold the pedal down.
