I got a quote for replacing my clutch at my dealer. $2,500

$1,500 of that is just for a new clutch not including labor. I'm getting pricing on remanufactured one now... hope they are cheaper. I'm told it's a double clutch and they are expensive. Is $1,500 out of line... the other $1,000 is for labor and transporting.

My other option is replacing only the throw out bearing and hope for the best on the other parts. They said the other parts are worn and my last a year???? Just replacing the bearing would cost $1,200 total (labor, transporting and bearing). thanks, Bob

2500 is on the high side but u got to remember when u take it to a dealer they have a lot of over head the have to pay like labor insurance light bills and so on so they have to make a good amount of money just to pay there bills

but the clutch its self does seem high u can get a remand clutch kit from hycapacity for about half but now remember that is remand and the other is new

I decided on the reman from NH... costs is $1,950 (total out the door). I feel pretty good about the price and even $2,500 would be fine for new. I just had no Idea what the price should be. Thanks for all the info.

I don't understand why the whole assy. needs to be replaced, they can be rebuilt. All you need is the 2 discs and the belleville springs. If the pressure plates need to be resurfaced all you do do is make sure you remove the same amount of material from the housing as you do the plate to keep the spring tension the same. It shouldn't cost $2000 for parts, I would guess closer to $500 maybe $600.

I may be driving to lousiana when my 5000 is ready :)

I simply don't have the LARGE concrete or BIG jacks and stands/lift to work on anything that big.

smaller fords from the 64 and down are ok.. and the 3 cyl 65-75 fords..

yea the clutch kit aint but about 700 dollars for everything give or take 100 depending on which disc is in the tractor and about 8 hours to split and put back together

That is inline around here as well. Ken Sweet

unless I get some more concrete poured, and some monster jack stands and a GOOD roll around floor jack.. one of you guys may be getting my business when my 5000 does decide to need a clutch.. :) if she holds out another couple years.. I might be able to swing the equipment and 'crete.. but it's not in the budget right now.. :)

our only good tractor mechanic here recently closed, leaving the cnh dealership as the only viable mechanic within 90m that works on tractors. and i'm afraid to say that they gounge 2x to 3x the going price.. for service / labor ( though their parts and supplies seem to be inline with most other numbers I see ).

That's exactly my situation. Only one guy in the area and he's not interested enough to even return calls. I thought we were in a recession but go figure. So I have mine hauled 80 miles to be worked on. My old dealer was 40 miles away but they went under so what's one to do. I have four CNH dealers that痴 around 80 miles so I chose the one that was more responsive to my issue and they only charged $140 for pickup/delivery. Others want $95 per hour or $600. Like crap, I'll put that money into a trailer before I spend that. At this point I pleased with my new dealer.... let's hope it stays that way!

if having expensive work done, our dealer will pickup and haul from my area for 100$.. before I had my big trailer.. I let him.. that's a fair price.. had to have some hyd work done on my 7610s.. now that I got a trailer big enough to haul it.. I will save that.. as it looks like i'll need it for repair money... :)

Your TN75 weighs about 6000 lb--roughly the weight of a 1-ton pickup.
A few 10Klb bottle jacks, some 6x6 cribbing and one or two decent floor jacks will be enough to handle the tractor splitting. Once the tractor is split, working on the clutch is pretty easy.

If $2.5K is a problem, then get the parts and DIY. A good way to learn tractor repair.

the tn series tractor has alot of specialty tools u need to change the clutch that cost about what they quoted to do the job for u so the diy method so be out unless u like spending money
