Oh come on, 37 cents once a month is going to be a deal breaker? Jeez.

There are some bills I will not pay via online banking, and I've been using online banking since Managing Your Money came out well over 10 years ago. I also used CheckFree when it first came out. Car payments, tractor payments are 2 examples. Nor will I allow companies to automatically pull money out of my checking account unless it's a local company, e.g., my credit union, where I can go visit them if there are issues.

Any company can have payment problems. As I, and others have stated, I never had a problem sending in the coupon and a check. And to decide on a tractor based on whether their finance arm offer online payment is ridiculous. You'll use a tractor for a lot more years than you'll pay for it.

when you can save 37 cents, you might as well do it. thats all i was trying to state. i never said it was a deal breaker, however, online payment is used by most companies these days. ive owned my tractor since 1980, i realize it has paid for itself about 10 times over.

Murph, I told you I'd written two checks this year and that's my limit for the year. You'll have to check back another year.

Here's one for you. I somehow missed one of my bills last month (car loan, out of state bank). They not so courteously called to point out that I was late. Naturally, I sent it right in along with the extra $10 late fee as specified on the payment coupon. A week later I got a bill in the mail for $10. I make the call to ask what gives. She asks: "Oh, did you want that applied to your late fee? We applied that to the principal." God save us!

You think that is bad, we use to have a commercial card at Home Depot but switched to using the Home Depot MasterCard. Well, we returned something that was charged and paid for on the Commercial card. It was a hundred some odd dollars. Anyway, we use the card again as we figure we have a credit on it. Well when that statement shows up it states we had a credit from the return and didn't owe any money. Next month the statement shows up with a late fee. Call them up and they told us they didn't know what to do with the credit because we never told them. After we got done explaining how stupid that is they took off the late fee and applied the credit to the bill like they should have. I still like how one month the statement states we owe $0 and somehow they managed to tell us we were late paying them $0. :-(This is why I keep my tag line on all my post.

Isn't Home Depot Mastercard handled by Citibank?

Probably because someone sent in extra money once and they applied it to the interest and they complained. Therefore the default is, unless there are instructions otherwise, it gets applied to the principal.

Did you indicate the extra $10 was for the penalty?

And may I ask what good would that be??? The person at the other end probably can't even make change without a computer. I am sure the person at the other end other than looking at the check threw any other paperwork away because the computer didn't tell them to look for other stuff in the envelope. The computer asked how much was the check for and that is it.

I was offering a possible explanation and suggestion to LWB, not looking for an argument nor a blanket condemnation of everyone who works at CNH.

I wasn't looking for an argument either. I am just making a comment of what you might find at the other end and how the process works.

Alst week the loan company called me on my auto loan ( nasty person ) saying they didn't get the payment - OK , let me check into that.

I called my bank, got a copy of the check THEY cashed, etc. and called them back. I fist told them that the phone call is being recorded, they refused permission, I said I don't care if you give me permission, and you don't have to say a word, but I have documents that prove you cashed my check, and I wnt you to cedit my account immediately. He said fax it to him ( i quess he wanted to talk afterall) I then said in order to fax it to you I have to pay $25.00 to my bank for a documnet fee ( which was BS, but it was now my turn to bust his stones). I said please confirm thatyou will pay me the $25.00 and will send you the paperwor - Let me check , OK I approve the fee - I then sent hime the paperwork.
Will I ever see the $25.00, I doubt it, but at least he got a taste o fhis own medicine, and he wasn't a happy camper.
The minute you tell people they are being recorded, you will be amazed how the tables are turned in your favor, because they can never ever say " you never told me that, or I don't remember etc."

I have had nothing but problems with CNH capital.

I billpay from my bank every month on the 20th, my payment is due on the 29th. I go from NY to PA. The mail takes no longer than two days. CNH states they credit your account the day they receive the mail. Not so. In one case it was over 30 days. Average is two+ weeks or just enough over the due date/grace period to make me late.

Of course they have charged me late fees numerous times, I contact them and tell them I am not late, but they still suggest I've been late on the computer until they look at all the notes. Most have been waived, but others not, and now on the latest, they are stating that because of all the other "lates" being waived they will not waive anymore. I tell them it's thier problem that they receive the mail within 2, maximum 3 business days. USPO delivers 1st class mail from NY to PA in two days.

It's a real problem.

I.

I realize there is a lot of bashing of CNH Capital on here. I've had 5 loans with them and found them to be easy to deal with. When there was a problem they fixed it quickly and easily and also send me a printout of my account showing all transactions.

I don't know if it is true for all loans, but I know in my case my dealer has a rep assigned to his dealership who handles all issues with loans.

After a couple of conversations you get to know this person and to me it is much more like old fashion personal service than you would expect these days.

I currently have 3 active loans thru CNH (one thru NH credit, one thru Case Credit and one thru CNH credit). So they went thru the CNH credit merger without any hassel. I have two people I deal with for my accounts if I have any questions. In all I have had 4 loans thru various versions of CNH credit and they have been the best people I have ever dealt with. They are very easy to work with and you always have the same people to talk to every time. Only one time has one of my checks been late and that was over this last Christmas mail season which is to be expected. They were great about the situation and the check was a $2k check so I was more worried then they were:( The check ended up arriving a month after I mailed it (2 weeks late).

I hope to finance two more tractors thru CNH credit in the next year as I am leaning towards a JX1095N and a JX95 to add to my farm once my current loans are paid off in a couple months and I am back to work. I have not dealt with Deere credit or Agco credit to know how they work but comparing CNH credit to banks and credit cards they are great to deal with.

I've never had a problem with CNH Capital. Of course, I never used Bill Payer. Actually, I've never used Bill Payer for paying any loan. I either had automatic withdrawal or I wrote a check, took the coupon and put it in the mail much more than 9 days ahead of the due date.

I used Bill Payer (Checkfree) to pay my last 2 CNH loans. CNH does not take the payments electronicaly as do most of the major CC and Banks. Checkfree sends CNH a paper check and it does add a few days to the transaction. (like 2 or 3) If there was ever a question that my payment was late I just told my agent at CNH when it was supposed to be there, they marked my account and bever once was I improperly marked late. I'm not saying they are perfect, but they are much easier to deal with than any of the major banks I have had dealing with,

I had some similar issues with GMAC a few years ago. Supposedly the bills were stamped/posted the day of delivery (I sent them 10-14 days early). I finally started sending them signature required and the started to post them correctly (otherwise they were often late, in any case they got to use the 'edges' of my money by charging me the full 30 days of interest instead of ~25 days).

Just the way a local receiving team is managed -- or intentionally run.
