Cold weather coming

I'm not seeing any of this in the forecasts for southern Ohio, which is perfectly fine with me

I was a volunteer firefighter back during the cold winter of 76-77 when the Ohio River froze and I was on the rear tail of a firetruck the night it hit -28F. I do not miss below zero weather!

I was living in L'ville in the mid 70s and I remember the Ohio River freezing. I think it froze twice during two winters. It was COLD. We only had a heat pump to heat the house and that thing just ran, and ran, and ran, and we were never warm. I will have to ask my parents to see if they remember the power bill. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

My friends and I were out playing that cold all day long. We had plenty of time to play because we had lots of snow, I think one storm was 18-24 inches and schools shutdown for weeks. Then there was a teachers strike for a few more weeks and more snow storms. To make up for the lost time we had an extra hour of school each day and the school year went well into summer. We would go out sledding, have snow ball fights and walk in the woods. The local creek would freeze so we would walk on the ice and eventually fall into the water. :shocked: It was only bad if the water went of the top of your insulated rubber boots. :laughing::laughing::laughing: I would get home half frozen, peal of the frozen JEANS, and put them in the tub to thaw. We might go out 2-3 times a day. :thumbsup::laughing::laughing::laughing: Crazy kids.

We sure had fun though. :thumbsup:

We knew walking on the creek ice was risky but the creek was shallow and at its deepest only thigh deep. What was crazy is all of the people walking on the frozen Ohio. I could not believe people went out and did that. I remember so guy took a car out on the ice.... :shocked: Nobody got hurt though.

The temp was a -8 degrees here in northern Michigan this morning along with a beautiful hoar frost clinging to all the trees in the sun shine. I am afraid winter is here.

And I thought the 15F I had was cold. You guys with the -F already, are making me feel spoiled.

It has been in 22 Thanksgiving Day and 24F this morning but warmed up nice by 9am
