True True! Having the old Farmall, they came in Red . But, the factory would paint them to order. Mine shows signs of being yellow at some time. It was probably a city or county tractor at some time in it's life.

To me color didn't have much to do with my purchase.
I spent a lot of time on the web looking at different makes and what they had to offer. I knew what would be ideal for me than I set out to find it. I believe I looked at every color tractor there is, even the purple one Long makes. My $$$ were limited and I wound up with a used 4110 Mahindra (4x4, FEL) with about 400 hours. It's red and I guess you could say I'm lucky it matches my old red and silver Chevy so well. I couldn't be happier with it, I wouldn't care if it was pink, I know what I got and it's what I wanted.

Dealer attitude is something else. Some of them still think it's 1957 and they can do whatever they want.

A female friend of ours went to a Mercedes dealership to buy a car. She was a clerk for the Government, and looked the part. No one even came over to talk to her. She left and went to a Volvo dealer and bought a new one for CASH. She had just hit 1.7 million in the lottery.

When I was looking for my tractor, I went to the dealerships. looked a the tractors, got as many brochures as possible, lived on this forum, then went back to the dealers. Some of them treated me like I was a 14 year old kid looking at the new Corvettes. At others, I knew more than the salesmen. I didn't care about color, but wanted Blue, Orange or Green, simply those are the only neaby dealers. The dealers could make a lot more sales if they treated people like people.

I finally ended up with a really clean used green one from a private party.

I actually think you look more like a tractor buyer if you walk in wearing old jeans and work boots. The dealer (Orange & Blue) I deal with treats just about everybody the same and definately knows that many of his farmer customers in torn jeans have multi million $ bank rolls. His price is definately not the lowest but his service is the superb. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Funny how those Mercedes dealers set themselves up. My wife and I were buying a car because we needed something with a back seat because we were going to have a child in a few months and our little old pickup has no back seat. We were trying out sedans that day and that day the cars were the Nissan Maxima and the Mercedes S430. The Mercedes really wasn't all that great and frankly my wife and I both liked the Maxima better. When we got out from the test drive the Mercedes dealer asked how we liked it. My wife said "the cupholders in the Maxima were a lot better". The dealer appeared to have a seizure at this point. We were hustled out the door, too. I guess we weren't regarded as serious buyers.

Well the funny thing is that the car we really liked the best was a BMW 740i. And that is one hell of a car. But the really funny thing is that we bought the 740i from the same dealer cluster as where the Mercedes guy decided we weren't serious. In fact, the two dealerships are in the same building. And the BMW dealer was about eight feet away from the Mercedes dealer.

So when we picked up the 740i I suppose the Mercedes dealer had another seizure.
