If you want the paint to be pristine, go pick it up in North Carolina. EverythingAttachments ships to 80% of us here on TBN completely free. Once they turn over the implements to their shippers, there is nothing more they can really do. Freight shipments get knocked around and stacked up on things and have things stacked on them. I guess they could always charge you for a private LTL white glove delivery and use no pallets and no bands and have nothing else in the truck, but that isn't free nor cost-effective for you.

Powder coat although stronger, is more expensive and can still be knocked off in the back of a truck. I just don't see the need/desire to badmouth a good company that makes quality implements without even giving them an opportunity to respond. Is the paint (or lack of) going to make the rake any less useful as a rake?

You chose to use them vs. paying more for a competitor's model (and would still have a paint/powdercoat/finish issue upon receipt) - so what exactly is the problem?

I can't imagine attachments not having a scratch or three. My brand new grapple arrived yesterday at 4:30. It had a few scratches simply because a fork lift had to pick it up and take it off of one trailer and put it on another so they could deliver it to my barn. 30 minutes later, it had some more scratches after I put it to work. What's not to love? It's a tool, not a ornament.

I have several national brand implements purchased from retailer Iowa Farm Supply, all of which arrived in Florida from Iowa carefully wrapped, carefully padded, with unmarred factory paint.

The powder coat paint on my Land Pride and Dirt Dog implements is in considerably better shape after 24-36 months use, than the wet paint on my ETA implements after similar use time.

In turns of response, I e-mailed this thread to Travis Templeton at ETA at 4:30 AM to offer Travis the opportunity to respond on ETA's behalf.

Paint remains ETA's weak link.

Here is my suggestion to Everything---

Include one free 'rattle can' or 1/2 pint of your trademark paint with every shipped attachment.
That should satisfy most complaints and create goodwill.

With bulk purchase the cost would be minimal and goodwill maximal.

Most understand that shipping and handling is rough on goods but the nature of your product eludes 'bubble wrapping' for protection however there are always some that wax their tractors.

My 2 cents.

If they took the time and necessary prep to powder coat or paint it automotive quality it would probably cost $100.00 or more per unit. It would still come off.

In the 1950's and 1960's utility level paint/finish was standard on tractors and automotive quality paint/finish an extra cost option. The demand for automotive quality paint grew to such a degree that tractor manufactures discontinued offering utility grade tractor finishes.

I have had bicycle frames, tool bars and tools powder coated at this independent operator in Gainesville, Florida.
Though a small business, it produces excellent results so I have returned. Neither painting, packing, shipping nor powder coating is rocket science.

My LandPride rear blade was special ordered, and I picked it up as soon as it arrived. It had scrapes and bare metal in several areas. I took it home, attached it to my tractor, and proceeded to add my own scrapes and scratches while using it. I've bought some implements that had much worse damage, and one time the dealer tossed me a rattle can to compensate. I never thought much of the missing paint since it doesn't affect how the tool works. I do like paint more than powder coat since it is much easier to touch up if needed.

We do use quality enamel paint with extra UV inhibitors. We started painting some attachments orange prior to getting our new orange tractors.
Our orange & yellow paint is outlasting the orange tractor's paint.

I think once you put the rake together and use it you will be happy with it. It is a good rake and does a great job with great results. The Everything Attachments pine needle rake is a step up over the older Leinbach rake with the tines welded in place. Being able to change the tines in the field easily is a definite improvement.

Chipped paint, razor knives and screw drivers all seem to disappear from work sites all the time. Try to get past it with out getting upset. Life is short.
