Hello All, I own a 2005 JD 3320 compact tractor, it was stolen a month go but It has now been recovered ( well most of it ) seems that the thieving scum bags only wanted certain parts and then dumped it.
It was all working fine before but now I have lots of issues.

1/ Error code 08 comes up but thankfully that has been discussed here so I know how to do it.
2/ The ignition switch was taken but I have put another one in and it will not turn the engine over, I have switched the ignition on and put a wire over the starter solenoid and the starter motor to get the engine running ( then removed the wire ) the tractor will drive forward and backwards but I cannot get the PTO to work at all.
In its mid position the shaft will turn either way by hand but locks up as it should in the other positions.
The lights on the dash all work and they tell me that the PTO should be working ( it does not )
Under the tractor where the cutting deck used to be they have taken what I think was the drive gearbox for the deck ?
All the hydraulics work ok as do the linkage arms.
Any help on how to get the PTO working or why it does not would be deeply appreciated.

Any insurance coverage on that theft?

Do you have the service tech manual for the 3320?

Do you have the invoice from your dealer? or if not, can you get help from your dealer?

Pics would help try to sort this out for you too.

Tracking down the safety switches that are involved may be the first order of things to do.. Wiring diagrams will be useful if you are having to make a go of it on your own. ... with help from TBN.

:welcome: to TBN and sorry for the theft.

Hi thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately I could not manage the insurance so I will just have to plough through it myself ( sorry for the pun )
The receipt got lost years ago but the dealer would still come out ( 70 mile round trip ) but I would need a second mortgage to be able to let them sort it out as they are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
I only have an operators manual which is very limiting so I will look on line to see if there's a workshop/tech manual and probably pester everyone on here to death.
Its the middle of winter here so at least I have a few months to try and get these problems rectified. Pictures I can take and post up but the PTO is a strange one, there are 3 sensors on the PTO block which I assume send a signal back to the dash for the relevant icons/lights to illuminate. They all seem to be working fine.

I have a 3720 which is the same as yours with a slightly larger engine. The only PTO safety shutdown that I have found is the when the operator leaves the seat but you will need a wiring diagram to chase the path down, it is very possible it does run through the switch which would be a good place to start since you don't have one.

Having said that let me tell you how to remove the console as it took me a while to figure it out without instructions. First remove the steering wheel by popping out the plastic plug in the middle and removing the nut, mine pulled right off. Second, remove the orange throttle knob it pulls off. Open the fuel cap access cover and you will see two small bolt heads which need to be removed, try to keep track of how the nuts are secured from inside the engine compartment and let me know, I still can't find mine. Once the very long bolts are removed you can tilt the entire console back toward the seat enough to get your hand behind the console and unhook all the wire harnesses from the switches and gauges. Once all the harnesses are free you can tilt the console back enough to free the two plastic tabs and the console will lift right off. Good Luck!
