Jinma 224
I just put a backhoe attachment on my Jinma 224 and it seems back-heavy. Has anyone else used a backhoe on the compacts and what limitations have you experienced in maneuverability with the backhoe installed?

So far as I know the 224 is the same as my 204 and this size frame is not intended for a BH. However, there are many more knowledgeable people on this board and they will provide more info. I'm sure it can be done with the correct size unit. What make/model BH did you get?

Almost any backhoe will make almost any tractor seem back heavy. They are quite heavy and hang off the back a bit. Do you have a loader on the front?

Actually Rick the 224 now shares the frame with the 254/284 but has the smaller 380 engine, We have mounted both subframe and 3 pt. units. I would not suggest a 3 pt unit unless the tractor loader is equipped with axle supports as on Koyker loaders. The 204 is actually the same chassis but some have shoe brakes instead of disk. and smaller tires.

I have a 224 with a 6.5 woods frame mount hoe. The frame mount was from a different tractor but adapted easily to my Jinma/Koyker loader. Tied right in to the loader frame... With the loader I don't notice the backhoe causing any instability.. Without the hoe the loader REALLY causes instability... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

If you've max'd out the number of suitcase weights hanging off the front, you might consider adding liquid ballast to your front tires. Find your tire size on THIS LIST to see how much extra weight you might gain.

Thanks for setting me straight bluechip. I have the 380 engine, but running a bit fewer RPM's I guess. Too many chassis and engine changes for me to keep track of. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'd like to have a BH for mine, any recommendations? On the other hand it would be impratical if it took a lot of work to remove it. Guess Santa will have to figure out something.

Hey, the best idea is get another tractor for the backhoe!
I am getting ready to put together another TLB package. I have a 204 shuttle with Jinma loader and Hoe but after listing it two or three times on ebay, no buyers. so I am going to take the hoe off and put it on a 25. It is the subframe Chinese hoe. I have one in the crate but I am guessing it is a full half hour, maybe more to remove the hoe and install the hitch gear. three point is much faster but will bounce you around a lot more...

Chip, is the shuttle shift available on all of the tractors? I have it on mine and can't imagine not having it. I thought it was only on the 28 hp. Thanks,

Bill
