That might be a good plan. The made in India Mahindras were perfectly functional tractors, but a little crude (like they had a Belarus father) and sometimes lacking in quality (e.g.rough castings, leaks and hoses). If they can get the quality up and keep the cost down, it would be good for the CUT market.
Yes
I called the old Mahindras the "Fred Flintstone" tractors. Very brutish machines that would get the job done because of weight and lift capacities but lacking in the "refinement" catagory.
The newer 5000 series Mahindras are much more refined with over a hundred improvements from their older line.
The new line will also be a continuation of refined but strong tractors for the money.

Makes me wonder if Kubota will enter their fold too.

And Mahindras are coming with these engines,

Kubota already has.
They are now in joinery with India's "Escort" tractor manufacturing producing tractors, farm equipment, construction equipment, implements, handling and railroad equipment and is now called "Kubota Escort". Kubota's market share has jumped over 90% as a result. They will also produce the "electric tractor".
This Indian company was first established in the mid 40's and producing tractors since the 60's. (Farmtrac, Powertrac and Steeltrac).

The Kioti also has a loader subframe.
Really? So do you think they were just trying to move the Mahindra? After all it was the only new Mahindra left in the yard with a whole bunch of Kiotis.
I'll have to look closer at the Kioti when I go back I guess.

So Mahindra has had a long standing relationship with Mitsubishi. The current Max and 1600 series Mahindras are made in Japan and purportedly have the least issues of the 3 branding types. The Mahindra branded TYMS for us have also been very reliable.
Mahindra wanted a tractor for the world market and because of the successful previous relationship with Mitsubishi, decided on a 50/50 union with them to help produce and design their new line. They and TYM got into a "scuffle" having to do with parts availability during covid and thus, Mahindra decided to part ways.
These tractors will be made in India at one of the largest new facilities in the world.
I think this union is to produce the best tractor they can and reach viable world wide sales as a result. It will incorporate the quality of Japanese made products while enhancing Mitsu sales with the wide dispersion and dealer base of Mahindra products. Mahindra now gets to consolidate their product line with "one" type machine instead of the 3 iterations they previously carried.
It is my understanding that remotes will be standard issue on the new Mahindras.
TractorData.com appears to list Mahindra as the manufacturer of the 2638. TractorData.com Mahindra 2638 tractor information

I would be concerned about buying a model if it was made by another company and rebranded under the Mahindra name if the two companies parted ways out of concern that they may be treated as orphans by both companies when it comes to future parts support.

But I have no personal knowledge of what happened or may be happening.

I guess it could go either way. It appears that when Yanmar stopped making most of Deere's CUT's for them (1970's - 80's), and started setting up their own dealerships and selling in the US market, the parts availability only expanded. Now, if you own an old 1980's Yanmar/Deere, you can get the same part at either dealership, for most machines.

The Kioti also has a loader subframe.

The DK has a subframe, the CK does not.

I've noticed tractor data gets it wrong on these rebranded deals quite a bit. Arrow works at a Mahindra dealership and probably has a better idea. Sure looks like a TYM.

The T374 is the tractor, i believe, they pulled the Yanmar engine for a Mahindra. I think I'd stick with the Yanmar.

Damn, what's even holding that tractor together? Removing the hydraulic lines, linkage, and driveshaft, it doesn't look like floor pan + frame could be more than 3 inches total height!
It does look a bit sparse. I wonder if that gives problems? Has anyone checked the forums here?
Just from the one photo, it does look like an argument for adding a subframe. The service manager mentioned earlier might have a point.

As with anything, it is the history of how they are working that is most important.

Tractor brands and their internals are a moving target.

My Massey 1760 has a Shibaura motor, the 2860 has the Iseki motor, barely a dimes worth of difference beyond that. It irritates me that if I had waited 2 months I'd have gotten the 2860 but then there's nothing wrong with the 1760.

I didn't go with Mahindra based on the perception I had of them constantly switching vendors. I don't question their quality I just thought that might make getting parts/service difficult.

My other two options were of course Massey, and then Kubota as I wanted someone local who could provide service. I preferred the Massey cab over the Kubota, and my uncle had a Massey a couple of million years ago (or so it seems) so...

Who makes what anymore is difficult to tell and hard to keep up with.

I have a friend who worked at the Bradford White water heater company, he claimed they made water heaters for everyone. One day they'd be badged with this name, the next day someone else. And yet people will swear by one brand and swear at another.

^truth! Lots of appliances are made by 1 or 2 companies. Same thing with laptop computers.

It seems that some people think that a tractor company that has been in business forever, makes 100% of their own tractors and parts, doesn't form alliances or have mergers with other companies, never changes their business structure, are only made in their idea of acceptable spots on the globe, and makes an absolutely perfect tractor is the best brand to go with. The only problem with that is there is no such brand, and if there was it probably wouldn't be close being the best tractor, but it might be painted the right color.

Well, here is another example of a tractor Data mistake:10023-mahindra-1626.html.
Notice it states the manufacturer as Mahindra when it is so not. Mitsu makes these just as TYM makes the 2600 series for Mahindra.
I guess TD feels they must also be the manufacturer because it says "Mahindra" on the hoods of these rebranded tractors.

If you are after a cab Tractor, TYM is it.
Lowest price currently, and only mechanical diesel for sale right now.

I got this 7,000lbs beast with 2,700lbs loader lift for $29,500.

That is a fantastic price.

That's only $2500 more than I paid for my 3725, six and a half years ago.
