The tractor is not setup for a loader. No joystick or quick connects, it can still be added but costs a lot more. If just for mowing, doesn’t matter.

As the OP is a new member, I was able to quickly review his postings. His original concern was saving time mowing a 3-acre former sheep paddock, and the consensus was that a zero-turn would outperform a tractor. So far, he has not broadened the proposed scope of its use. In fact he reduced the scope as snow removal is out. From the pictures and observations of others it appears the OP's characterization of "unloved" was spot-on. In my mind the questions are: At what point does a bargain on a less-than-ideal machine become viable? If time is important, will the machine in question require more attention than the OP is willing to devote?

Sorry for the confusion - since my earlier thread I have decided to definitely get a compact or sub-compact tractor, not a ZRT, even though a ZRT would mow my property much more quickly.
I want a loader so I can move woodchips/soil/driveway gravel around. I'd also like to get a rotor-tiller to prepare plantings for staples like sweet potato, corn, carrots, etc. Ultimately I'd love to get a 3PO woodchipper as well. I really don't want two machines, so I'm gonna go with the tractor.

I've narrowed my focus to a Kubota B and BX series, and was considering buying new when I stumbled upon this used one locally. It's a B2301 is certainly a model I'd be happy with. However in light on it's condition and, as dodge man just pointed out, it's lack if joystick/quick connects for a loader...I might pass on it in favour of buying new. I thought it would be pretty easy to buy and attach a loader at a later date, but I see now this isn't really the case. I'll probably look to buy a B2301 new and spring for a loader at the same time (original plan was to buy tractor and add loader later).

In your situation, buying new, and with a loader, is without a doubt your best (and most cost effective) choice.

Agree with all that have posted... for 150 hours, that machine looks like 1500 hours.... I had 220 hours on a 2 y/o machine and there wasn't a mark on it! The buyer said it looked better than brand new machines at the dealer!

Unless there was a phenomenal deal... like 45-50% of new, I would pass... Also, by the time you add a loader, you would be getting close to new

Go with new, get what you want, you won't regret your decision.

Unless you are prepared to "find out" what additional problems exist with this unit and are able to repair them - - go with a brand new unit. You will have a unit that works as it should, it will have the features you want( FEL, etc ) - you will be able to sleep at night. AND - with proper maintenance, a new unit will last the rest of your life OR until you need to upgrade.

I bought my 4 year old Kubota diesel RTV, 1140, from a guy who did even not know how to check the oil. He had it 1 year and never even looked. He said, it starts, it runs.

It had 400 hours and all original, welded on filters. Most difficult filter removal in my life!

I immediately changed everything and it runs as good as anything i've ever owned.

I paid about 25% of full retail but. i took a chance.

Good luck!

That green carpeting was NOT mowed with that machine and deck.

All good advice above. I was going to suggest that you compare pricing with the dealer (new vs used with all the attachements, repairs etc.), but frankly, its not worth it. Go new, get what you want and (at least in the states) most times you can finance the tractor and attachments at 0%. Use their money. Get a full warranty and a brand new rig. And end cost is nearly the same.

I would suggest that you look for a tractor with a loader already on it, if not at the least a tractor set up for a loader with joystick and all the hardware already in place. Most find it is way more expensive to add everything after the fact as opposed to getting it from the start.

We have 2.8 acres and bought a new bx2380 with an fel and a box blade two years ago. No mower deck because we have a zero turn mower for that. Like you I looked, before buying, at other brands, at used stuff, etc., etc., until I was blue in the face. I'm really glad I bought the new one. I was going to just pay them but they insisted I finance it at zero interest so I did. I may get a tiller for it we will see. I did get a pirahna attachment for the bucket and highly recommend one. I service it myself it is easy to do. Grease the fel wear points every ten hours.
