Comparing a L3130 to BX7800

I agree with your insights, but have plenty of tractors with front end loaders already. That is a nice tractor, but looks like it was used for a lot of dirt work. I kind of like tractors with no loaders on them. Usually, they've seen less hard use.
I just need a stable, easy to operate 4WD grass killer. I have some areas to cut that are steep and rough, too.

You're smart to pass on that B7800 in Texas. I've looked at it in the flesh, and it appears to have lived a hard life.

Gotcha. You would be in good shape with a B7800 or equivalent. It is very similar to my B2920. Anything in the B series in the 30hp range would work well for what you want.

What other models came with 4WD, hydro and 72" MMM?
Used and under $8,000 used is my budget.

Cant do new, dont want anything real old or much over 1,000 hrs.
Only other option I see is F3860 front mount mower w/ 4WD

If an F3860 is an option, then you might want to consider a Grasshopper front-mount mower. You can find used ones with a Kubota diesel an a 72" deck in your price range. Or, unless it absolutely has to be 72", there are a lot more 60" ones available. I looked at a used Grasshopper 930D recently. It has a 30hp Kubota diesel, 72" deck and it is an absolute beast.

The front-mount Grasshoppers will allow you to detach the deck and attach other implements like a blade, blower or snow thrower. Even at that, they don't have the all around utility of a tractor. But I would guarantee you that, just for mowing, a 60" front-mount Grasshopper (or Kubota) will mow circles around a 72" MMM on a tractor.
