some new lawnmowers say the same... getting away from the old 30w dinosaur days..![]()
Your just spending extra, even if in warrenty they cant tell you you have to use Kholer oil , although repairs related to lube may be easier to get if it was their oil and a warrenty claim arose.Since my little Toro ZTR has a Kohler engine, I'm using the Kohler 10W-30 oil. I asked my dealer who makes it and he said he didn't know. I'm curious, and of course, it's expensive oil, but to change once a year, I figure it's not bad. I don't think it's synthetic, but I can't say for sure. The manual does say, "Synthetic oils will provide better starting in extreme cold below -23C (-10F)." And no, I'm not kidding. But I've never mowed my yard when the temperature was 10 below zero. I couldn't believe that was in there.

I wouldn't use mineral oil. It really doesn't have very good lubricating or corrosion resisting properties. I worked in an industry manufacturing electrolytic capacitors and mineral oil is what was used to lubricate all machinery that came in contact with the product to avoid contamination. I tell you, as a lubricating oil it was crap.If proper compressor oil isn't available mineral oil should work.![]()
Use compressor oil. This is particularly important in a two stage compressor, still important enuf for all. The issue is water since most compressors dont ever get hot enuf to keep it from accumulating in the oil. Compressor oils have anti corrosives added to prevent rust. I used engine oil in a 2 stage and it locked up tight in 3 days between uses due to water induced rust on the cyl wall of the second stage. Broke it free and changed to compressor oil and never saw another problem.

Single stage or 2 stage?not hot enough?you must only use a compressor to air tires.
When I use mine, at the end of the day you could fry an egg on it.especially painting or running air tools. sanders eat air....
