Computer Mouse

We have 3 Microsoft optical wireless mice (plural) and they really work well. I like the fact that all buttons can be programmed to do just about whatever you want them to do. Plus the wheel can also be used to scroll sideways which I find very handy when working in word processing. Still use a mouse pad so as not to scratch the top of the oak desk.

Have you checked the manufacture's web site for newer drivers? I've had plenty of device's, that brand new, had bum drivers. Also see if the have a FAQ? Page.

If the mouse haas a common problem you may find it there. Also check to see if you have smooth scrolling enabled. Some work better with it off.

do a google search for the mouse name and model # and see if some tech site forum pops up. i do this often with new devices that behave badly or unexpectedly and have had descent luck finding other that have del with similar problems.

My mother gave me a new Microsoft wireless optical mouse & fingerprint reader (why she didn't want to use it I'll never know...). I found this thing immensely frustrating! Evidently if the mouse doesn't move for a certain amount if time the optic light turns off, which means I was trying to move the curser & it WOUDN'T, then I'd have to lift & re-set the mouse to use it. After a couple days of this I plugged the old mechanical mouse back in. Aside from not being frustrated with the curser not moving any more, I also like the fact that this old mouse is much MUCH lighter than any optical mouse I've ever used, especially the wireless ones.
