So which drive had the OS on it, C or D? Both are labeled as the OS drive in the screenshot you posted.
I've never had an issue with which drive was in what physical position, can't say I've ever installed the OS on D so I don't know how that would work.
They both had OS on them, but from what I understand, C-drive is solid state and much faster than D-drive, which is the way they are positioned now after they fixed the problem.

Currently there isn't any OS on D-drive (2 tb).

I believe it was using the OS off of the slow drive (2 tb), which was in the 1st position even though there was OS on the solid state drive (512 gb) 2nd position.

although im glad your issue is fixed. a spinning drive will work fine for 99% of people use, web browsing is absolutely one that barely uses a hd.

Yes you're right, it would be tough putting 32 gb of ram, 64 bit operating system and windows 11 on a 1997 Dell desktop.

My first desktop was a 1997 Dell 286 processer (ram, don't remember) and 40 mb hard drive. This is probably my 6th or 7th

desktop computer. This desktop computer is a 3 year old Dell.

I do not store anything on my hard drive, I use thumb drives. The reason I have 32 gb of ram is that I might have anywhere

from 20 to 60 windows open at any one time. In some instances I have used up to 25 gb of ram.

I am not downloading any apps, not running any apps. C-drive is just nuts. Of course it's slow as hell, like not having

enough ram.

I ran check disk from C-drive properties-check disk, no problems. I ran every option on my TotalAV and nothing.

Now with this problem, in the one picture I only have the task manager open, but it is using 11 gb of ram. Normally when I

turn on my computer and have one window open and the task manager it will show about 5.7 gb of ram used for pk2 win game apk.

In the other picture where C-drive is 100% utilized I only had the task manager and one browser open.

I think my next step is to replace my hard drive with a new Dell drive.

Thanks.
Yes i see this and follow up

Need help from you computer gurus. I've had a desktop computer since 1997 and should know more than I do. I have nothing stored on my C-drive, but as soon as I open a browser or my email it will go up to 100% usage. With just my task manager open, my memory will show 11 gb of usage.

I had windows defender and ran it on my whole computer, then only C-drive and it would stop at about 95% and quit.

I disabled windows defender and downloaded TotalAV, I ran it on the whole computer and then C-drive, it worked, but found nothing.

This use to happen once in a while for a short period, but not like this.

I don't know, but I'm thinking that my C-drive is just failing on me.

Thanks for any help. Enhancing your ride with the right UTV accessories can improve performance, comfort, and safety. A roof and windshield offer protection from the elements, while skid plates and bumpers safeguard against rough terrain. LED light bars provide better visibility for night rides, and cargo boxes help keep gear secure. Upgrading suspension and tires enhances handling on challenging trails. The right accessories can make a big difference in both work and recreational use.
Your C-drive might be failing or overloaded with background processes. Run CrystalDiskInfo or chkdsk /f /r C: to check for errors. In Task Manager, identify high-usage processes and disable unnecessary startup programs. Also, check your virtual memory settings. If it's an older HDD, consider upgrading to an SSD for better performance.

Computer is fine now. When I had the Dell contracted techs out here, because my hard drive failed they put windows on D-drive and put it in the first position, they also had windows on C-drive in the second position.

After talking to the Dell techs in India we switched them back and everything is working fine now.

Just stumbled onto this one, and glad you got it resolved. But there were some really bad replies in the first page of this thread! :ROFLMAO: The i9 processor wasn't released to market until 2017, so I'm not sure why anyone would think that computer was from 1997. I can't remember the year every processor was released, but being two decades off made me chuckle.

One other poster seemed to be equating RAID configuration to drive letters, but once you go RAID, there is no longer any relation between physical and logical drive letters. You can split and combine those storage pools a thousand different ways. I usually have 2 - 4 drives associated with a single drive letter, in my RAID configurations, for a combination of redundancy and capacity from faster individual drives. You can also add super fast NVMe.2 SSD's as RAID cache to arrays of HDD's, in higher-end configurations, which really messes with the concepts of volume capacity and drive lettering.

I do wonder why the system indicates a RAID configuration, if you have only one HDD and one SDD set up as separate volumes, as that's not usually recommended. Not the source of your troubles, just unusual.

And it looks like you already figured it out, but that first cluster of images showing HDD loading relates to data throughput, not capacity. It was showing that HDD activity was high, not that it was full. The image you posted on page 2 of this thread shows you have plenty of capacity on both drives.

Perhaps the only thing more entertaining than threads on electrical code, are threads on computer problems. :p
