Microsoft (and others)) make BIG $$$$$$ out of training. So when they release "new and improved" they are assured of a steady income stream from businesses. If it ain't broke change it so the end user needs training.

The best solution is to run a version of Linux.

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those that can read binary and those that can't.

I have been using Windows 8 at work and I hate it. MS has tried to put a touch user interface on a non touch system. Pretty danged stupid. They are trying to push people to use a MS ecosystem like Amazon and Apple. Taint gonna work. That ship has sailed. One operation on Win 7 took me double or triple the number of mouse clicks on Win 8. POS.

What will be interesting is how long will MS keep this POS user interface? I can't believe it will last long because companies will not want to spend the money to retrain people to use their Win 8.

I just bought a new laptop and it came with Win 7. I simply would NOT buy a Win 8 system.

Later,
Dan

Press <Windows>R (or open that Search charm and type run) then type in netplwiz Uncheck the box near the top that says 'Users must enter username and password to use this computer' Then OK, enter your name and password one last time and your good to go.

The Windows key can alternate you between the Desktop screen and that (insert all the rude words you can think of) opening screen.

Aaw shucks.

No I have to 'fess up. I read it in a magazine. I bought a laptop late Nov and have been trying everything to get it stable since then. Got the starting up sorted but can't get it to shut down without one drama or another. Restarts or goes into loops for hours.

I'll get there one day. Just hope it's before windows 9 comes out :)
