Concealed Carry and Consequences

My LEFT wing friend (I use this term loosely) says if I ever shoot someone in self defense, the authorities better go over every detail of the altercation to make sure it was justified and he will see to this personally.
That is a hoot if it was not so sad and scary. What a wonderful insight into his character...

I would ask him how he would see to it, personally?

Since he feels so strongly on this issue, ask him if he will then assume all responsiblity and liabilty for YOUR safety as well as your family?

I don't think I would have someone like this a friend. A "friend" would not WANT to punish me for saving my life or the lives of others. Sounds like he has is head up his a....

Just get your deer rifle and sling it over your shoulder,[I use 7mm mag],,you won't ever have to worry about anybody bothering you, plus you can shoot through walls and stuff, blow a mans head off out to a couple hundred yards easy,,,than you won't be scared anymores,,,thingy

Course,if your in a city setting or class room,,maybe a 12 gauge semiauto,,[pump would work,so don't go out and buy a semi if you already got a pump],3 inch mags turkey shot maybe,,you can sling it as well,,or just lean it up next to your spot at work or school if setting.

I just prefer a deer rifle myself cause I live in the country, and want to get him before he even sees me.
Also remember back when was it 68 or something,,that other crazed idiot on the clock tower in texas, believe he's in second place now,,,9mm wouldn't been much use than,,if I coulda got him in my scope from down on the ground there,,
Anyways, thats my advice for you guys today,,thingy

I want a laser sight device, improves aim in stress situations

Hmm.. aiming... I thought that was what the imaginary line extending from your arm/hand was for? Per fbi crime statistics most shooting occur within 6-10'.... and you probably shouldn't have to aim in that small distance... COM should be quite a sufficient target ..

An asailant 20' from you can charge and in many cases close the distance to you in less time than you can draw a holstered gun that is 'reasonably' concealed.

If you are farther away than that.. then aiming may not need to be an issue, as you may notbe in immenent danger????

Just my 2 cents..

Soundman brings up a good point about most are shot at close quarters,,thats why I carry a deer rifle, don't let em get close,,but the shotgun will sure knock them down out to 40 yards or so,,but if you keep either one of them slung over your shoulder or leaned up against your desk or work station,,no bodys going to mess with you anyways,so actually they are crime preventors,,,thingy

Egon, yeah, old habits you know. I guess I'd feel about as safe with my 12 gauge, going about my daily bussiness here in w.va.,,but if I was in a more flatter place,,still like the idea of picking them off a couple hundred yards off,but I could get me a few slugs for the long shots I reckon, your right as usual egon,,,thingy

Have you all seen this story?

WVLT - Home

The Cincinnati Post - Former Miss America foils intruders

Its about an 82 year old woman (a former Miss America) who shot out the truck tire of a man who was eyeing the scrap metal on her farm. I support gun rights and I think its a cute story, but I am wondering if the police usually let this sort of thing go without charging the shooter with "aggravated discharge of a firearm" since her life wasn't in danger and it sounds as if she already had their truck blocked in.

Wasn't there a story on here about a farmer being charged for firing a "warning shot" when he caught someone stealing his gas?

What do you all think? Is this a lawful/acceptable thing to do? Or do you think the police let her off easy since she was elderly. One report said she was steadying herself on her walker when she fired...

Gutsy lady and her actions got results, but do you think she went too far? The police only charged the man with tresspassing.

Again, I do support the second amendment and CC rights.

People can certainly give their opinion as to whether or not what she did was right, good, legal, or whatever based only on what they read in that news story. However, I don't think anyone can give you a valid answer as to whether or not "the police usually let this sort of thing go without charging the shooter with "aggravated discharge of a firearm"" for a number of reasons. In the first place, the news story (as with most news stories) isn't the whole story. It leaves many questions unanswered. In the second place, news stories frequently are not very factual. In the third place, laws vary from state to state. In Texas, I never heard of "aggravated discharge of a firearm" so I don't even know what that is. The story uses the plural for trespassers, but only lists one arrest. How many were there? And why was only one arrested if more than one was there? Was the land posted? Or did they enter a closed building? In Texas, to be charged with trespassing, you usually need one of those circumstances. Otherwise, they have to be told to leave and refuse to be charged with trespassing. Was there an actual attempted theft? Did this happen in anyone's city limits? Or out in the country? "Deputy" instead of "police officer" would lead me to suspect it was outside city limits (although that could certainly be a wrong belief). No law in most of Texas, outside city limits, against discharging a firearm on your own property as long as it doesn't harm anyone, cross a road, etc., etc. Could she be charged with damaging his property? Maybe. I'm not surprised that she was not arrested. We probably would not have arrested her, based on what's in the story, and what I might guess the rest of the story to be.:D
