Concealed Carry Regrets?

   / Concealed Carry Regrets? #61
In Kansas (unless it's changed) first time taking a concealled gun inyo a place posted no guns is a $50 fine. Second offense is $100. I don't remember what third offense is.

Honestly I don't worry about those signs if I'm carrying. Even if I did print a little nobody pays enough attention to notice.

Most places that post the sign don't post it correctly I've noticed. So even if I was carrying in that store I wouldn't get a strike on my record.

Right now its winter so it should be easier for people to conceal with the bulkier clothing.

I live in Maryland , I would need a letter from Jesus himself , and probably would be denied .

Maybe this will help.......

Dear Sprinklerman,

This is to inform you that your request to carry a concealed weapon has been approved. Thank you for your interest in our program. May you and your family be safe.

Regards,

Jesus

In my state, the businesses that state "no firearms" must post a very specific sign at all entrances, and this sign has to meet strict standards to be valid. If it doesn't meet these standards, I ignore it, and I consider my concealed carry to be legitimate. If their sign is proper, then I have a decision to make. Frankly, if your weapon is concealed adequately, the chance of getting into trouble is slim. But I guess if you use your weapon, your legal troubles will surely be more elevated. That's why using a weapon should only be a last resort, to protect life of yourself or another.

Same in Texas. No Guns Allowed does not cut it. If it is not an area prohibited by law or if the sign is not proper and properly posted, then you may legally enter with your concealed weapon. If then the owner of the establishment ask you to leave you have to go. Ironically the sign that has to be posted in Texas carries the designation of 30.06. As of January 1 when open carry takes affect in Texas, they will have to post a second sign of the same size and placement that states no open carry or in you can go.

We had something like that happen around here a year or two ago. Local mall is a "no carry zone." During the Christmas shopping season, two urban youths approached a couple of middle aged guys as they were exiting the mall and demanded that they hand over a pair of shoes (expensive Nikes??) that they had just purchased. One of the youths had a gun. One of the middle aged guys had his CCW and defended himself. The youth with the gun was dead, the other one ran and was later apprehended.

There was a lot of speculation on whether or not the mall would pursue trespassing charges against the man with the CCW. They didn't. The talked about theory (because the mall folks weren't talking) was that if they did pursue charges, that would open them up to civil liability for not adequately protecting their patrons.

If I remember correctly (and that's questionable and I don't have time to Google the story right now), the urban youth that ran was later charged with murder because he was involved in a crime with a gun in which someone was killed. I don't remember how that turned out.

And, to answer the original question - I have no regrets about getting my CCW. I just pray that I never have to draw my gun. I do think that it's sad (and unConstitutional, therefore illegal) that we even have to go through a process in order to "legally" carry a weapon.

Reminds me of the Hank Williams Jr. song "A Country Boy Can Survive"

So sad that people think they are entitled to other's peoples things. And more than that, it leads to loss of life and such a terrible impact to so many other lives.

Yes, I agree 100% our constitution is being steam rolled and so many young people (but old enough to vote) seem to have no care at all....

Texas Dawg, the state approved sign, for stores to post to prohibit open carry, is 30.07. The stores must post both signs to prohibit both forms of carry.
