I have a CCW in two states. The process is as described above. Only in Virginia you don't need finger prints ( as of mid 90s) and in Arkansas you must be a resident for one year at least.
I am partial to the sig in 40. I have a 229 in a paddle holster. The 229 is a nice size, and the decocking lever is great.
For summer time you can't beat the walther PPK-S. Yes the cartridge is wimpy, but you can very easily hide these.
I also agree with Ed that the berretta's are great. But a 92 with a high cap mag is more weight than I want to haul around.
