Just because the law says you can, does not mean one should.
Once again, I'll agree with a statement like that. Kindof funny really, since both that point and the one Bird made was on my mind when I posted my initial reply - just didn't type it in. (since I'm normally too verbose as it is. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
I will not state one way or the other what I would do in a given situation as there are too many pitfalls in doing such - suffice to say that I am familiar with all of the points made to date in this part of the thread and have spent quite a bit of time going over the legal, practical, and moral aspects in this area - and unfortunately, not all of my understandings/beliefs/experiences have come out of a book or from talking it over in a class.
Undoubtedly, as a number of folks have pointed out on this thread, there is a LOT of stuff to go over, understand, and decide on when it comes to getting a CHL. The one thing that is NOT debatable is that a CHL widens the number of options available to the holder when it comes to protecting themselves and/or those they care for.
BTW, if you look back at CBN, you and I have had this particular "legal" discussion before - what one CAN do vs. SHOULD do and reading the law for themselves vs. taking someone else's "word" for what it means. I don't care to rehash the whole thing again, but suffice to say it appears we are both being consistent in what we said then and what we are saying here.
