Concerned with new Bobcat CT2040

No cab no loaded tires. ‘Barely move’ might be a little extreme but it has a hard time getting going.
Come drive my Polaris Brutus (24hp Yanmar diesel with HST) and you'll feel a LOT better about your Bobcat! I pretty much have to go LOW to go up ANY grade. I was aware of this when I purchased it: always match your tools to your needs- I have pretty flat property, so climbing wasn't a real concern (plus the ground is really uneven, not going to go fast not matter what, lest I want to break machinery or my body).

As s219 noted, high gear is really only for easy and "fast" (in tractor lingo this is slightly faster than a sailboat, which is only slightly faster than a kid's tricycle!) travel on the flats. It's like running on the highway vs. hill climbing. You shouldn't attempt to hill climb in a high gear, and, you shouldn't look to operate on the highway in low gear. Gears are "choices:" choose wisely Grasshopper!
