Could you imagine the look on the customer's face showing up with 3 pallets of redi-mix?

 in a meeting and read this and the chuckle and grin was enough for the meeting to stop and everyone to start staring at me

I use the bucket that came on my tractor when I bought it.....I hose it out when the job is complete. You would never know i have used it for over 7 years now for concrete jobs in remote locations..Unless I am missing something here.

I poured 8 or 10 pads for oil tanks this year, how big is this generator pad?

I have done the same thing with mine, but it usually makes a mess because it pours too wide. I like the conc bucket because it pinpoints the concrete right where you want it. I may not even bother buying it, but it makes a lot of sense for me.

i have seen the concrete chuter, it has a small door that can be opened manual,or hyd, thought it to be handy,i have to do a patio at our camp and without one would have to rent a pumper to get to it. i say buy it and throw out the wheelbarrows! lol

Sounds like you don't need reminding on the weight of a yd. of 'crete, with that said I believe that most of these "buckets" are about 1/2 yd. Better than a wheelbarrel but still 18 or so trips per truck load. With business (const) so slow, I wonder what you could hire a pump truck for?

This has nothing to do with what you said but I LOVE your signature!! Thinking about stealing it:D

I'd bring a laborer, and my mixer.

The pad is on a steep hillside. No place to sit a mixer!!! getting stone, portland back there wouldn't be easy, either.
I can load conc bucket up at street, head down the hill, turn around at bottom, then drive straight up the hill and "make a deposit", then head back to conc. truck for another load.

sounds like a crazy one. does it have to be on concrete? sounds like some pressure treated cribbing might work. do you have to place the genset there too? you could always call Carson Helicopter.. we set units on top of Kraft Foods with them..:D

I think he could buy anew tractor with a concrete bucket for the same price as having it airlifted in. I would go with the concrete bucket. Sounds like you have enough jobs to keep the concrete bucket in good use.

I vote 'railroad tie retaining wall and gravel'.

I will add to the mix, again. Using a tractor/FEL and having to do many trips, pretty soon you will have a road to the remote location that will probably need to be fixed after the fact and God help you if it's muddy.

I paid five hundred dollars cash for a four hour minimum with a pump truck, it was supposed to be $700 but he was in and out in two hours. That two hours was for seven yards in my ICF, can't beat that.

Good point. Do you have any pictures of the job site?
