Quit depressing me QR TRHRS. I can't even buy the lumber for that, let alone erected, LOL.

This one here is 30 grand, and that was with the cheapest builder that could be found. 36 by 28, 14 foot ceiling, 12 foot door.

Slab is 5 inch thick with rebar, plastic and rigid insulation under it. That was $6500.

$16,000 for building package. 2x6 studs. Interior vapor barrier and insulation will be around $3000.

Will have 40 grand into it once the insulation and plywood is put on walls and ceiling inside.

It's built a little better than what was need for code around here. Didn't need that many fire stops in the walls and it has an extra top plate.

Yep, 6 sheets to close the sides on a shed, almost $300 bucks.

Lumber store out here in my rural neck of the woods. I think that is what it is called OSB....it's that pressboard crap not real plywood.

Rural can add a lot to the price. The more rural, the more 'rural surcharge'. But unless you're up around Thunder Bay, I can't see triple the price for a sheet of OSB.

At $7 a square foot, it makes you wonder how much profit is in it after materials?

These guys did the labor cheap Eddie. I was really surprised. It took a bit longer because they had other jobs on the go, but no big deal. Was the only quote that low. But the building inspector said he was impressed so they did a good job as far as I can see.

No windows either. Just the big door and one man door.

Guess I got ripped off?? LOLl

Like I say, maybe just the place I bought it. But I didn't feel like driving to town so never priced. Just went and bought it because I needed it that weekend.

I know i was shocked because like I said.....I could have got metal.

I'm also rural. My supplier priced 5/8 OSB to me at $24 a sheet. When I told him I could make a trip to the city 70 miles away and get it for $16 he matched that price.

Glad he did. Sad that he was gonna gouge me that hard.

Paystar, attached is a recent ad from a local Amish Builder. Within the past year the price is up from 4950, lol! Of course, no slab, no window.

I don't think I could buy materials for that. The garage door and opener cost me $3300 installed.

Price comparisons are very difficult and rarely accurate.

According to the bookkeeper (wife) I've got $80K in my new 1872sqft shop. I'll guarantee you can build A 1872sqft shop cheaper than that. I'll also guarantee you cannot build THAT shop cheaper than that.
