I am considering purchasing a CUT and the PowerTrac 422 is high on my list. I really like the versatility of the PowerTrac, but my biggest concern is that I have a considerable amount of bush hogging to do. Does it get tiring holding the pedal down all the time? The two pedal operation looks great for loader work, but would be nice if there was a lock or something that would hold the pedal at a set position for long duration mowing. I have never driven a PowerTrac - maybe it's not that bad - but I am comparing to CUT's that have a nice big platform with all kinds of space to put your legs.

Regards,

Gordon

I have had my 422 for 6 years during which time I have done a considerable amount of bush hogging as well as plowing snow on a 3/4 mile road. I have never found holding the treadle down to be a problem.

As a matter of fact, I just recently added a finish mower although I haven't had it long enough to really form much of an opinion on using it. Up until now I have been mowing my 2 acres of yard with a 20hp hydrostatic Wheel Horse. From the little bit I have mowed (finish mower) with the pt, the 2 foot treadle works much better than the hand operated lever on the Wheelhorse.

CarolinaGordon,
I have a PT-425, and mow/brushhog 5 acres about once every week and a half or 2 weeks, depending on rain. The peddles in my 425 are much softer/easier to press than the accelerator in my f-150. It takes me about 4.5 or 5 hours to mow my 5 acres. I go slow because the ground is really rough, and I don't ever notice my foot being tired or anything.

My foot (ankle) got sore during the first 10 hours or so.
After that I never had any discomfort.

Thanks for all the input. The PT just moved further up the list. Actually, it was already at the top - especially considering the price. Originally, I was looking at a 4 wheel drive CUT to do bushhogging with - thinking I could add a loader later. Now I'm thinking that with the PT maybe I can get everything at once.

Thanks again,

Gordon
