BBF,

fyi You also may want to look at the weld on lift arm hooks? I have them and absolutely love them. You can still use your original ball pivots or simply back into the attachment using hooks its handy as pockets on a shirt for me anyway.

I hate wrestling my tiller this fixed that for $65 best money spent on tractor to date. ymmv as always :)

The company also makes a pin on set like Pats except they dont have the auto latch his has, you still need to get off and pin them and attach the top link no bushings required either btw. food for thought

I too had no idea what he was talking about! I thought they all had the cast manifold, even the chineese replacement parts. I thought this pic was of your tractor California, till i read your post. I too have never seen one with this sheet metal cover?

I think what Bruce & myself are talking about is the muffler its self is cast . There is a cage around the muffler as well as the cast manifold

ok, i see the picture again, the muffler looks cast. Mine is just stamped steel, heavy steel but still just like a normal tractor muffler. Its a china made repro i think.

Yea i knew which ones your talking about on the swuare ones. The newer model YMs i think had the square ones. That pic Cali posted shows what looks like a round cast muffler? But mine is round pipe that is reduced and welded. just like what Hoye lists and sells i guess for the ym2000. There all the same now as the repros. Really anything that fits on the manifold will work.

Muffler -- I went on Hoye and looked the other day for a replacement muffler and saw the round one and went "What?"

Mine is what looks like sheet metal (gray ... not painted black) like the picture posted above.

I am thinking I might replace mine as one day when I was mowing near our horse club picnic shelter a couple months back I was busy watching the bucket (which is 5' and therefore a little trickier when maneuvering, as it is wider than tractor) and looked up to realize the pipe of my muffler had hit the edge of the shelter and was now *inside* the shelter. Maneuvering in a very tight space (and on a slight grade -- which is why the roof comes down that low) meant that, sigh, the grit-one's-teeth-and-take-it-out-regardless was my solution.

So my muffler and pipe have a rakish angle to them. Hubby laughed and said since I accuse him of breaking things while he fixes them, he was going to leave it that way and not straighten it. (This goes in the Dumb Things I Have Done on My Tractor thread. Which is a hoot if you haven't been there.)

Feels like I am wearing a "cone of shame" when I drive it. :ashamed:

Anyway -- where do those mufflers come from if not from Hoye?

Hoye is not making the mufflers to my knowledge, i think there buying them from the aftermarket, which i belive means they come from china. its basically the same muffler on probly some small kubotas and mitsus and probly isekis etc. So there is a strong market for them i guess, you can find them on ebay as well.
