Congras on your new tractor. As soundguy said you can always ad a sherman should you want to at a later date. I can't see how the hose is hooked up but if it doesn't have a quick disconnect connection on it I would add one makes it easier on/off and you don't lose oil.

That was a nice price for that tractor and I would guess you did well on the price. Seems it could be re-sold for equal or more than you paid for it so from a collector's standpoint your risk is minimal. It probably has low use and was well cared for. It's a great parade tractor as well.
There's something about the 8N that just draws your eyes to it. Sure, the rear oil seals leak, early distributors are hard to get at and the PTO can be annoying. But, the art deco styling is timeless and if one can value aesthetics as much as practicality they can own an 8N. I've owned an 8N, maybe more and a 9N and actually regret selling them.

For 3400, I think you did good. I am surprised it went lower than the sherman that was the right color.
Let me ask you this though, you said you were in a bidding war with one other guy on that 1952, when did it become just the two of you and no one else??? Cause that would be what it sold for if you werent there. It only takes two people to want something,

I dont recall if you mentioned, but which one sold first??
From my experience at auctions, if there are two identical items, the second one always brings more. No one runs the first up too high, cause they "know" there is always another. But when that second item comes around, its the last chance...

LD1,the non loader 52 was the first to sell and also the first of the 25 tractors to be sold. Mine was the second in line after the 52..Like I mentioned,I jumped into the bidding at the last minute on this loader tractor,so if I had not,it would have gone a few hundred lower also.

I have found that if go to an auction expecting to buy something, it's an overpriced struggle for me and rarely works. BUT, when I go to an auction with no pre-conceived notions about buying something, I walk away with the store and the deal of the day. You just have to buy things out of your order of priorities.
