holy crap, this thread is miles off course

how did that happen??????????

Ok, given the 12x usage per year, yes, a cheaper (at first) electric brake trailer would be fine.

they still suck though and since I"m spending your money :p I would go with air brakes (since you already are pulling it with a dump truck)

doesn't matter, trailer is gone.

There'll be more trailers and for lower prices. There's so much equipment for sale. Everyone's selling off now around here. Never seen it look so dismal.

If I knew what I know now I would have shopped harder for a backhoe with less wear yet in the same price range this year instead of last. But other than for resell (which it is not) the wear is not really an issue because is digs/lifts well.

Housing is so overbuilt even my BIL who has only built homes all of his life took a factory job as an electrician.

Yep, my construction company is pretty slow, too. Haven't built a new home in years. My other business is doing better, that's for sure.
It's an opportunity of a lifetime if you're in the market for construction equipment.

Nope. There is no such thing as an air brake endorsement in WA or any other state in the US. At least not on a CDL. :D

You need to do more research before making broad based statements.

Well in Pa you don't get an air brake endorsement you have to have your air brake restriction removed.

"Air Brake Restriction Removal"

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-cdl.pdf

"To operate vehicles equipped with Air Brakes (Remove L Restriction)"

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/dl_forms/dl-31cd.pdf

A test is involved that you have to pass.

Actually you might be correct because Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth not a state.

I have done plenty of research thank you.

So.....what is wrong with my "broad based statements"? Your links only reiterates what I was saying.

Your statement about "every state" is too broad based.
I'm sure you dont know the motor vehichel code for all the states and commonwealth's.
I am familiar with pa's because I live with day in and out.

In pa if you get CDL and don't pay for and test for the "L" removal you Can't legally drive an air braked vehicle.

The company my wife drives for has a lot of class B CDL drivers with the L restriction on their license's the have boosted hydraulic brakes on the vehicles.
They are getting new vehicles with air brakes and have started requiring the employes to remove the "L" restriction. to stay employed

My wife and I both have had our CDL's with "L" restriction removed for 20+ Years because we had air braked vehicles to drive for work.

She was the instructor and tester for her company when PA first allowed for 3rd party testing.

You need to do more research before making broad based statement. (Sound familiar?)

It isn't hard to make this statement when the CDL and the endorsements/restrictions are mandated by the feds and are the same from state to state.

tommu56, please don't feed the trolls.
They sucker you in and you'll get suspended.
What he doesn't realize is that state laws can trump NTSB and ICC rules.
NTSB and ICC rules are minimum "guidelines" and the states can have stricter requirements, ie. California.
It's called "State's Rights". It's in the Constitution. See: “state sovereignty resolutions”
