(My L3400 has a live PTO. I have a PTO generator here on the east coast for hurricane backup. You must bypass the seat switch to run the tractor unattended.)
If you tip the seat up it will continue running with the PTO engaged. I can not remember, you may need to have the brake set also. Even if you do not is is a good idea to set it.
