Yes, you can get away with a lot of things for a while.

Why not get the right valve for about $75.

As I previously stated CCLS is a totally different type hyd system than a true closed center system and many Ford FEL's on CCLS systems had open center valves. I think heat will not be a factor on a CCLS system operating a log splitter with an open center valve.
